Walmart no longer selling guns?

My nearest Wal-mart has stopped selling guns but does have some new Pepperridge Farm cookie types - trail mix with dark chocoloate, raisins and almonds. Appeals to the outdoors hippie in me.

Oh, BTW, the next two nearest Walmarts have put in new upgraded gun selections. Still got the best ammo prices for WWB around town.

For other reasons, we do not shop at Wal-Mart. However, we do shop at other big box retailers.

Our local outpost of Pacific NW sporting chain, "Joes" (formerly "GI Joes") just started selling handguns the other day! Long guns only, previously. I remarked to the clerk that I was surprised and pleased, and would return (prices were high and selection was limited, but I wanted them to know that I supported the change).

Despite the pervasive doom-n-gloom, it's not bad all over. Support businesses that have policies you support.

Deminished sales? Gunshops can't keep most semi-autos in this area due to high demand.
You do realize the article is from 2.5 years ago, right? If they removed the gun sections over the last couple of years, it's not like can just slap them back together for the last two months of sales.

Having driven most independent gun stores out of business, Wally World is phasing out its gun business.

Shocker.

The nearest WalMart has guns, the next one out doesn't. Haven't looked further than that.

K-Mart still carries guns, too.

Kmart dropped guns about nine years ago, during the Rosie O' Fatass debacle. A boycott and public relations nightmare got rid of Rosie and brought the guns back.

Incredibly, we still have a Kmart, not in town but in the next town over. We even have a Sears store. Enough of us around here would never shop at Walmart that we can support a few "ghost stores."

I've heard from a few Wal-marts that they're slowly going to drop all gun sales in the next few years. The one in Springville, Orem, and Layton don't sell them, but 20mi. south in Payson they still do; I remember when the Hesperia Wal-Mart in CA stopped selling guns, but that was years and years ago.

edit; there are so many successful gun stores up here I really doubt that Wal-mart would out-sell them. The customer service just isn't comparable to the smaller stores, and even Sportsmans Warehouse and Cabelas has pretty knowledgeable guys behind the counter and good deals every so often.
