Walmart reloading supplies in Texas

The local Wally Worlds in NE Wisconsin don't have any reloading supplies.
They have ammo, cleaning kits & Hoppe's No 9 & stuff but no powders, primers or bullets.

Gallensons...my favorite reloading shop. No way Walmart would ever put Gallensons out of business. Never seen a more comprehensive supply of reloading gear than at Gallensons. Reasonable prices and knowledgeable staff too. The three local Walmarts around me carry reloading supplies. One small little shelf of it. A whopping total of 6 powders. Gallensons has basically the entire line of powders available in the U.S. Walmart would have grow their reloading section a lot before Gallensons need fear.

It's a specialized hobby and not something the masses get into. It's not something Walmart can buy cheaper in China either. I see it as a niche they can't fill. The only time I've ever bought anything from Walmart was when others were out of stock of RL-22 (I bought a whopping one pound) and the Hornady #7 manual. I'd rather shop at a specialized store fore reloading supplies and I'm betting that most reloaders would too.

That said, it IS nice to have as a backup (if the carry what you are looking for).

The three WM's closest to me in NE Harris county (i.e., Houston) haven't carried any reloading supplies. The few times i visited the WM in Liberty there haven't been any. I haven't been to the one up in Porter, but they are the only WM left within an easy driving distance that still sells firearms --- they MIGHT sell reloading components.

I was surprised that at the height of the ammo shortage, two local Academy stores frequently had primers.

Moral: you never know what will show up at a big box store...or what will disappear...

I bet it's up to the individual store manager to carry reloading supplies or not???

I've never seen any in any W-Mart.

Wally world in our area has joined Sears & K-mart---they stopped selling guns & ammo.
Keeps our local gun shop happy.................

I seriously doubt that..... Individual managers don't even control the thermostats in their own stores. It's all done from a central location.

That's my take as well but it's obvious that if some WMs have reloading supplies then the stuff is in the WM system. Would be interesting to know what the criteria is. I wonder how much, if any, customer request it would take to get a local WM to stock components?
I ask them to stock 10mm everytime I buy ammo at WM. They haven't yet. They say, "We can't get it." It's not like WM doesn't have the stroke to get anything they want to put on their shelves. They sure find a way to put some relatively obscure rifle ammo on the shelf.

The clerks at my local WM are just key carriers. The management might think it requires a bit more knowledge it they had to stock components.

I'm in East TN and I've never seen any reloading supplies in any of the Walmarts around here. Hell, they don't even sell guns anymore.

Yes, there might be some knowledge liability. Some clerk might tell somebody Bullseye is what he needs to load 30-06.
Just a thought?

pcwirepro,

Centerville Utah, Layton Utah, and Riverdale Utah Walmarts all carry limited reloading supplies. Don't expect anything like Sportsmans or Gallensons though. It's just been a small shelf or two with bullets for the most common calibers, 6 powders, some brass, limited RCBS dies and gear. I've never seen primers in stock and don't know if they even carry them.

I would have to disagree. When I purchased the Hornady #7 manual from Walmart the manager remarked that the reloading supplies didn't sell well and he was considering dropping them. (That was pre-Obama/component shortage).

WalMart in Cedar Park, TX (NW of Austin) sells guns... no reloading supp's taht I know of...

The WM in Brownwood does not, However I was in a Midland WM, and I was shocked at the amount of reloadind stuff they carried......

And they make you show proof of age to buy ammo even if you're 60.
I watched them ask a cop for proof of age, he walked out...typical walmart droids.
