Hey everyone. my project over the last month or two is a .50 cal black powder "pistol" I designed. I'm finally to the stage of building a stock/grip for it. I need a piece of walnut 18"x6.5"x2". most commercial suppliers are asking $60-70 for anything that would work for me. I don't need anything AAA or exhibition grade or anything, just functional. any ideas? (I'll post pics of the barreled action later, if anyone's interested.)

Might find what you need here, or similar Internet wood vender's.

Most larger cities have specialty wood stores catering to hobbyists who sell all kinds of exotic and common wood in various sizes.
Check the Yellow Pages where you live for them.

Being in Spokane WA, I'd think wood like that falls off of trucks along the road? There should be sawmills and places like that selling wood all over the place.

well if $70 is too much you could grow your own cheaper I'm sure
