cool im thinking about a p22 for conceal carry
I would strongly recommend not going with the P22. Although it may be small and light weight, there are far better options out there for concealed carry. I own it, and I would not in a million years trust my life with this gun. From my observations, the tolerance for complete slide reciprocation is right on the cusp of what a 22 LR round is capable of exhibiting pressure wise. I'm glad some folks can run the Federal 550 round bulk pack through their P22's, but my gun will FTE on the first two rounds of every magazine without fail. I do not have any trouble with CCI mini mags, but they aren't that cheap. Bottom line, the degree in which my gun is picky on ammo does not inspire confidence in the gun's reliability, because the tolerances for proper functioning are so narrow.
I should note that this problem persisted throughout the 550 rounds, and I always clean my gun thoroughly after shooting them.
The 22 LR rimfire cartridge, while undeniably capable of lethality, is a gravely underpowered round for self defense purposes... especially when considering handgun barrel velocities.
If you are that much enamored with the P22 design, consider the PK380, it's essentially the same gun chambered in .380 Auto.
