Looked at one today at Cabela's. Kinda cute, price is right. Thought it might be a nice plinker for my wife and older son. Any comments or input from current owners?
Use the search function, this has been discussed alot. Overall, a fun little gun, prefers high velocity ammo, some reliability problems in early production models.
Every one of these I'VE seen requires premium ammo to function.I believe this takes the fun out of it being a .22lr. Id get something else,Ruger,Beretta Neos, anything that will function using $10.00-500 round bulk packs.
Mine has several thousand rounds through it, and almost all of that is Remington Golden Bullets (550 pack for $9 at W-M). Fun gun, and my eleven year-old son loves it.
I don't have anything against them... I think their biggest attractio is that they look really neat. But in the over $175 price range, I can't imagine getting the Walther over a Ruger if I were actually wanting to shoot it a lot.
Also, in my experience, the Winchester Super X bult pack and Federal Lightnings seem to work about 95% of the time... a hiccup or two every other mag... That's not really bad for a plinker and super cheap ammo but these are mass produced guns and there will be variation from gun to gun... Just seems that Ruger's variation seems to vary from 'very good' to 'great' while the Walthers vary from 'perfectly good' to 'I'm selling this bleepin thing!'
Thanks for rubbing it in, Suomi! God bless the Finns!
They are cute little things, aren't they? Man, were folks excited about them when they came out. The .22 forums and TFL probably have a lot of threads on them from way back when, too, if you want to do more research off board.
