Has anyone removed the firing pin on a Walther P22 pistol? I have a firing pin spring issue and need to remove the pin. I have the safety out, but firing pin still goes no further than at normal rest. Any help would be apprciated.

Rick,

The pin may be broken. Its been a while since I've detail stripped my P22 -- and for good reason - they can be a real P.I.T.A. Going slow is the name of the game. I've you haven't already, ask the guys on the Walther forum at www.rimfirecentral.com -- LOTS of p22 info there.

to get the firing pin out you have to drift out the pins holding the rear reciever block in and remove the whole block. be carfull not to lose the spring. also when reassembleing make sure that the spring lays flat as it will jam up very easily.

Thanks for the info, kind of upset as it is a brand new gun. I have always replaced parts like this on my own, but I contacted Walther and they sent me a pre-paid mailer to send it in. I have heard good turn around times for them.

I still want to knock the pins out and see what is going on under there!! Just my nature, I think I am better off sending it to them before I void my warrenty. The part that hurts is that my suppressor will be here tommorrow without a .22 platform to host for!!

Thanks for the info fella's

Regards,

Ricki

All right guys, I said the heck with sending it in for a simple firing pin issue. I popped out the roll pins, removed the brech block (did not loose even one spring!), and found the return spring was compressed. I stretched it out and the firing pin now returns to the firing position.

Thanks for all your help, and I would have never firgured out thar you had to remove the block.
