sorry

sorry i meant i bought 2,000 rounds of .22 LR in the Federal Bulk Packs from walmart sorry

I like mine

and with the Gem-tech Outback II on there, it brings a smile to my face every time. Never had a mis-fire.

I get about 4% duds out of a given box of Remington Golden Bullets, regardless of what I shoot them with. Other bulk ammo seems to be similar in that regard. With most bulk ammo, the slide on my P22 will fail to cycle about 20% of the time. With the Remington stuff, its more like 5%. Throw in the duds and I'm having issues with a little less than 10% of the ammo in a given bulk pack.

I have never had a single failure of any kinds shooting CCI Mini-Mags or Stingers.

Mine has been as reliable as any .22lr pistol I have shot. However, my hammer spring did break. They fixed it for free and sent it back in a jiffy.
I shoot Remington Goldens as well.

Good Ammo

Mini Mags and Stingers are better brands of ammo then bulk. You can feel the difference when you shot the better stuff, to me 22 lr is super cheap to begin with so a small upgrade in ammo is no biggie.

I bought one for my daughter, and it's a pretty fun gun to shoot. No problems at all, except when a friend of mine limp wristed it.

I shoot CCI Minimags and Federal Bulk Packs through my P22 just fine.

Quite a difference pulling out the P22 after you shoot a 45.

My father has recently joined the "what .22 handgun do I get" debate, so I've been doing a lot of reading and querying on this subject, and the P22 in specific.

Both on the net and in various personal interviews, I'd say the verdict is about 70/30... as in 70% say "I love it, would never trade it, find an ammo it likes and it's good to go for life" and the other 30% say "What a lemon, could never get it to work, jammed every round, no one could fix it, traded it immediately."

whats teh big deal about saying crap on them, mine works fine

Be careful with this line of reasoning. One example does not prove the quality of a batch. Otherwise every company or country which has ever put out a lemon - which is ALL of them, of course - would have a bad reputation.

That said, I think the P22 is overall a good handgun with generally quite positive reviews. Those who hate it REALLY hate it. I handled a couple at a gunshow about two months ago and liked the feel and fitment.

Yep. Same with a lot of guns, some people loathe glocks (I have some friends like this) or sigs or....you get the point. I think especially with the advent of the internet, while it may seem like a fair number of people complaining, in the grand scheme of how people actually own one compared to how many have serious problems, it's probably a smaller percentage than it seems like.

My $.02 :neener:

-EDIT-

P.S. Love mine. :D

I have almost bought one several times. I keep reading so many bad things about them that it always makes me back out at the last second. I'm really curious if they've fixed some of the issues people were having with them. Some people say they have, others say they haven't. Does anyone have a reputable source for more information on them?

Forgot to add that I've found the following which seems to explain some things:

"Older examples had problems. Make sure you get a gun with the L prefix serial number or newer. The first generation magazines did not feed correctly. Make sure you get a magazine with the letter A in the part number etched on the mag"

I must have bought the only bad one in VA.
Might have another, if ya give it to me.:scrutiny:

I've had my P22 (and Gemtech Outback:D ) for over 4 years and have shot many thousands of rounds through it. I shoot the heck out of it and hardly clean it (my suppressor doesn't help keep it clean either) and I have not had one single hiccup with it. Not one single FTF, FTE or Failure to anything. I bought mine new in 2003 so mine might be one of the improved versions. I heard that the earlier P22's were POS that did not shoot worth a darn.

I like mine and it shoots fine. It is not my most accurate .22 but it certainly is the lightest and least expensive.

My girlfriend and a former coworker both have P22s and love them. For a $250 gun, it does exactly what it was designed to do. It provides shooters the opportunity to put a ton of rounds down range without emptying their wallets. Sure, it's not the most accurate, but it's definitely still fun.

Congrats on the gun - and I am happy to see U had no issues. On that one - it seems to be a bit of a crap shoot.

I ended up buying a Browning Buckmark last month after researching 22 pistols for a long time.

It is a fun little pistol. The Grandson loves to shoot it. (11 years old) The two, a green one and a black one),I have has not had any problem at all. My daughter Walther P22 does have a FTF every now and then. I think it is because hers is Gray.

I have a fail to feed issue with one of my mags, but I'm thinking I might be brushing my thumb against the slide, preventing a full cycle. Other than that, I have had no problems at all. I recommend cleaning often, using a light grease, maybe polishing the feed ramp and slide rails(grooves) on the frame. Definitely a fun plinker, if not entirely accurate.

I've had one since the early days of its introduction and its been good to me.

[QUOTEI get about 4% duds out of a given box of Remington Golden Bullets][/QUOTE]

I get the same or worse in ANY gun Rems are shot in.

Me too, and mine has been good to me also.

Keep in mind that most European .22LR semiauto pistols are designed for real ammo, something that few American manufacturers turn out these days (mostly, I'm guessing, to avoid lawsuits). Generally, the shorter the barrel, the bigger the problem. If you're having functioning problems, try to find the highest velocity 40gr solid load (normal .22LR case length) possible (which requires a chronograph) and try it. That will probably fix things.

I shoot mostly .22LR ammo made at least twenty years ago and rarely have any problem with the ammo in any guns...

Mine stays loaded with CCI Velocitor... it is a very good combo for an "around the place" gun, out here in the sticks! :D

If you have old mags, WaltherAmerica (S&W) will replace them for free. That's what I did, and all malfunctions stopped.
