I bought both the 3.5 and 5 inch versions for my sons. They were enjoyable to shoot if you like to practice clearance drills............stovepipes, failures to load, safeties clicking on while shooting. Not to mention a very heavy double action trigger pull.
I would stand behind my boys to clear any problems. I finally sent them back enough times (Three, fixing nothing each time) that S&W sent me two new P-22's.:banghead: These function ONLY with CCI minimags. I did not intend to have to shoot premium ammo through a 22 pistol-especially for my kids! Do you know how many rounds they can go through? Sometimes I feel like a professional magazine loader.
Anyway I picked up 2 Ruger Mark III 22/45's. They are accurate and feed everything (so far) that I have tried. (the P-22's were accurate, just not as good) My boys love them. Granted their hands are bigger now. The P-22 does fit small hands nicely-the reason I got the P-22's in the first place.
If you don't mind spending cash on premium ammo, I am ready to sell my P-22's.
