Walther P22

Saw someone selling a Walther P22 locally here the other day. I was thinking it would make a fun little gun to play with. It is the green and black version. Comes with the case, everything from the factory, and 2 mags. He wants $295 for it and says it only has about 200 rounds through it. Would be my first handgun. Would be a good deal or not? Any thoughts about the gun?

I might offer him $250 for it and see what happens.

I have had one since they came out in 2004.
After some minor teething problems, it has been an O.K. plinker.

If you can get past the air-soft feel.

Just beware that the P22 is not really a Walther, but an Umarex (better known as an airsoft company) with the Walther name slapped on it for marketing purposes. The only real Walters are the guns made by Walther at their factory in Ulm (and include very high-quality guns like the P99, PPQ, and PPS).

For that kind of money, I'd be looking at a higher quality .22 like a Ruger Mark III or Browning Buckmark - guns that will last a lifetime of shooting, as opposed to the potmetal P22.

Well I thought it looked like a fun little gun if I could get it for the right price but I guess the guy lives in a different state seeing as i'm not 21 yet I was looking to do a FTF deal so I guess I'll wait and find something else I can actually buy lol. Thanks for the input though

They're decent guns. I used one as my first suppressor host. It ate all the ammo I ever shot through it. The only negative was that it wasn't super accurate.
