I recently acquired a Walther P38 from my brother. I am sure it's post war but would like some more info on it, what year it was made ect. I'm hoping someone can fill me in. It doesn't have much for markings, On the left side of the slide it says "Carl Walther Waffenfabrik Ulm/Do.
P38"

The serial number is 3684XX.

There aren't many other markings, a star on what I believe is the takedown lever. On the trigger guard (left side) is the number "75" (year?)followed by what looks like a deer antler with an eagle over the letter "N" right below the "75"

Other than that not much more than a "9 Para" on the front under the barrel.

Anything you could tell me would be great.

Thanks

The other news is that it's one sweet pistol...If there is a better trigger, balance, ergonomically built for one's hand on a stock 9mm in that price range; let me know about it...:)

Those are the proof marks. The eagle over "N" signifies nitro proofing. The stag horn signifies the Ulm proof house. "75" is the year of proofing.

Great. Thanks for the info. Haven't shot it yet, but I like it so far. :)
