I've never had a .40 caliber so I'm clearly interested in how it'd feel and thinking about getting one. Anyone own a Walther in the .40? Interested in how the recoil is and if it's as fun as the 9mm. Thanks.

The recoil from my P99 is less severe (if you can call it severe) than my Glock 23. It really isn't that bad, but it is sharper/more pronounced than my G19.

Cheers

i had a od green p99 in 40 very good reliable gun a little more accurate than my cousins duty issue glock 22 the one i had had the neutered mags but it was a very good gun i just couldnt like that green frame

My P99 in .40 has been nothing but dead reliable for me. In fact when my 1911 started giving me trouble the P99 replaced it as my house gun. It's snappier then a .45 but I don't think as much as a 9mm. Not really that much of a difference betwen neutered and regular mags, 10 or 12 respectively. Haven't seen anything larger then that yet that is flush.

It's good info to go on, thanks. I don't have a .40 -- I'm not sure why the caliber hasn't appealed to me in the Berettas but the design of the Walther strikes me as a gun that would take a .40 and shoot it better. That's just my take.....I'd like to get the black in a .40 and the two-tone in a 9mm...

I have shot one, and thought it was a competent utility pistol. I still prefer 1911's, but the P99 I'd trust to carry loaded, something I couldn't say for a Glock.

Amazing...

...number of folks who have not read their instruction manual for this pistol and don't understand the de-cocking function. Several stores that I visit are pretty unhappy with it, as their trainers don't care for a handgun that requires two hands to de-cock. They have refused to order anymore of the things.
