i just traded for a walther p99 40 cal in the green frame does anyone have a expirience with the green frame guns ? good or bad? hows the walther compared to say a glock 22/23 ? thanks for a ny info:cool:

Color of frame, IMHO, has little to do with function. A check of this site relates some folks have had problems with the .40. Some folks have had problems others didn't.

The Glock is an outstanding firearm. It is not my cup of tea but it is a reliable work horse.

I like Walthers more than Glocks but that is a personal preference. My P99 in .9mm has performed flawlessly. My P5 is also a beauty.

Question comes down to whether your P99 functions properly and does it fit your needs and wants in a firearm.

I own the Walther P99 military 40 caliber (green frame). Mine has had 0 malfunctions in the rounds that have been shot with it. I like my P99, but I'd really like the 9mm version if I could find someone to swap out with. I like the ambi magazine safety (H/K like). I like the feel of the gun, but for some reason it feels as though it recoils more than my G23 does.
The color of the frame makes no difference in the function of the pistol.

I paid too much for mine, when back in the early days of introduction ($575). It was the original German-proofed frame, slide, barrel, etc. It shoots fine, and is more accurate than I am. The 40 round is pretty stiff in the polymer guns, but the P99 holds up very well. The reliability was sketchy, depending on the magazine follwers and generation magazine tube . The new ones with green frames should have upgraded magazines. I am not a big fan of the trigger, but the Glock is no better. Buy it if you like one for the collection, but it is a utilitarian gun. I am back to steel guns of old like 1911 and SMith revolvers where trigger pulls are like breaking glass - crisp.

i took the gun to the range sunday and it shot great 0 malfunctions . i shot it along side my cousins g22 in 40 i like shooting the walther better myself and i love glocks dont get me wrong this gun just feels better to me in my hands, it was just as accurate as the g22 and just as reliable ive only got around 60 rounds mostley winchester jhp and some hydra shoks thru the gun but it is very smooth in short i love the gun i did have to put the smaller grip thingy on the back of it to fit my pudgy little hand better though thanks for all the replies everyone . one more question how do you caryy your p99 decocked, or with the trigger ready to go in the quicker mode? thanks:cool:
