As a non-fan of Kahr, GLOCK and Keltec. I'm intrigued by the Walther PPS.
I handled one the other day with the intermediate mag and liked it. Very slim and smooth gun. From what I've read they seem to be a well-built one as well.
I'm looking for something with just a bit more punch than my .38jframe that's easily concealed and this seems to fit the bill.
What say you?

I have a PPS in 9mm and like it very much. Accurate and reliable.

Put about 600 rds of different fmj and jhp thru it without any feeding/ejecting problems.

Feels good in hand and while shooting. Recoil is minimal and pistol is quick back to target.

About the size of a PPK/S, perfect for concealed carry.

Walther quality.

I have a 9mm PPS - around 400 rounds downrange so far with no problems other than one stovepipe the first range trip (I was thinking that MrsBFD wasn't holding it firmly, but I've been trying to induce a malfunction with loose grip without success ever since, so I'll chalk the stovepipe up to break-in)

I like it, some complain about the oddball magazine release, but I'm used to swapping between the European heel, US button, and Walther trigger-guard styles already.

You would be sacrificing capacity for width, and you may want to make sure you are comfortable with the flush-fit magazines, as they are best for carry.

I recently purchased the pps as my first gun. I find it very comfortable to hold compared to other subcompact sized guns, and I really like the angle of the grip. I have no regrets getting it.

Great gun. I've got one in 9mm and a second in .40S&W and take them to the range frequently (or did, at least, when I still find ammo regularly). I find them to be accurate, reliable, and wonderfully easy to conceal and carry.

You might want to check out the Walther Forums to get the lowdown from a variety of folks who own them, use them, enjoy them. Here's a link:

You will love the PPS

I have owned mine for about one year. I have put about 600 rounds through the PPS and it has performed flawlessly. Not a single failure regardless of ammunition. I purchased 2 seven round mags and two eight round mags because my hand fits the grip better than it does with the six round mag. Only one thing I would change, wish I had purchased mine with night sights. Very reliable, accurate gun that is very easy to carry concealed.

I hope this will be James Bond's next pistol :)

I also have a Walthe PPS 9mm and liked it very much! It's dead accurate and recoil is very minimal. I experienced 3 FTFs one time in a single magazine at the range. I found out that my friend, who is very new in handling guns, feed the ammo in the magazine incorrectly. The ammo was not snugged tight to the magazine and it did cause FTFs. That's the only time I experienced it at PPS. However, during the course of my ownership with it and me feeding ammo at the magazines, haven't had any FTFs whatsoever.

That said, I don't blame the PPS for that matter. Any pistol with incorrect placement of ammo at magazines will definitely have FTFs. Overall, I like the PPS so much and would definitely trust my life on it. The only thing I don't like about it is that it holds up to 8 bullets only. If only Walther can make extended magazine that holds more than 10, that would be super awesome! :)

Good to hear. I have one on layaway. The only negative I've found is that new PPS's only ship with one mag, and new mags, (6,7, or 8 rounds), are $50!

Mine came with two magazines. It sounds like S&W and Walther are following in the footsteps of Sig. :cuss:

Otherwise, great gun, the PPS. I got mine for a good price, but it's in 40 S&W and is rather snappy. For such a light and thin gun, 9mm might be the way to go.

Correction - around 550 rounds downrange, and we have learned that this PPS does not like steel-case Brown Bear ammo. Luckily WM had 9mm WWB in stock (500 more rounds for the range box), so I had more than the steel-case to shoot at the range.
Oddly, the P1 didn't mind the steel-case, so I got to burn a good portion of it up.

Also - My PPS came with one each 6&7-round magazines, but many in the shops now just have the 7-round for some reason.

Shot my new PPK in .380 a couple of times the last few months. A very solid gun, but be wary of the recalls for decocker probs.

Walther's recent decision to reduce the number of magazines shipped with each gun while keeping the price constant mimics Sig. You can still find some guns on the shelves, if you hunt around a bit and a lucky, that were shipped out before the one-magazine decision, however. I stumbled on a PPS in .40S&W with both magazines around the Christmas holiday and swooped it up at a good price.

In current production guns the PPS is a German-made Walther, the PPK/s is a Smith and Wesson. Smith and Wesson is an importer for Walther, but there are issues with importing a PPK-sized pistol anymore. Much like why we can't get a .380 Glock or the CZ KEVIN pistol.

Just an update I bought the PPS. Tried out a PM9, much prefer the Walther.

It's a classy pistol. Shot it yesterday behind the house, found it to be as accurate and I shot it as well as my BHP Practical. Fed some reloads a CZ chokes on fine and really shone with some Speer Gold Dots. Shoots as easily and sights work as well as a full-sized pistol. Definitely a much better gun than a Kahr or a Keltec.

Goes in the pocket easy enough, fits in the same Uncle Mike's ankle holster (size 0) as my 360. Going to order a High Noon IWB holster to try out as well.

I have a Walther PPS 9mm and love it. It has been completely reliable with a huge assortment of different ammunition. It is thin, small, light, accurate and the quality of the fit and finish is fantastic.

It makes a great conceal carry pistol and that is what I was looking for when I bought it.
