I want to get a light 9mm, but after owning 2 Kahr's I m turned off on geting another one. The Walther PPS looks very nice, but I always wait to see how there are really doing.

How many of you have shot the Walther PPS????

What do you thin about the PPS???????

Have you heard of any problems so far????????

What's the recoil like?????????

Just to answer your question, I shot my PPS in 9mm for the first time this past Friday. I bought the gun used. I put 200 rounds through it without a single malfunction. It was flawless. Due to the outdoor range rules and the height of my target holder I had to shoot the PPS at 32 yards. I was consistently shooting all six rounds into fist sized groups (I have fairly big hands) and some smaller. There were a couple of flyers, but they were most definitely my fault. Recoil was quite managable and not at all unpleasant. Muzzle flip was far less than I had anticipated and follow-up shots were rather quick. Overall the gun shoots like a full size gun and more accurately than most. The gun mag accuracy quotes seem to me right on the money. The gun is incredibly accurate for any size.

Since I only picked up the longer standard seven round mag yesterday I shot the gun with the short six round mag and also with the extended eight round mag. With the six round mag my pinky was wrapped under the mag. I found this to be a great grip seeming to offer me more control than all three fingers on the grip or grip and extension. It seemed to offer a good amount of vertical control having the supporting pinky under the central axis of the grip. I found the extended eight round mag to be far less desirable seeming to put the gun off balance. I will try the seven round mag the next trip to the range, but, I really like the short six round mag. If I can wrap the pinky under with the seven round I will also give it a try trying to duplicate the contol of the shorter mag.

This is the most impressed, at least initially, that I have been with a handgun in thirty years of shooting.

I put a deposit on one pending research, and then backed out.

It handles tremendously, but I found on PPStalk.com and waltherforum.com that several folks had slide lock-back issues, and not right away, but after say 1000 rounds.

I even decided to buy it anyway, since you get the great lifetime S&W warranty and service, right?

Wrong. You get the stellar service, but the warranty is only a year. That was the dealbreaker for me, if the manufacturer won't stand behind a gun, then neither will I... ;)

BTW, I did love how it felt, think it would carry awesome, and tons of people on the aforementioned forums were in LOVE with the gun. I'm already a betatester for Ruger on the LCP, and couldn't bring myself to do it again, couple that with limited holster availablity and no nightsights around, and I had to walk away for now.

I might revisit after they've been out awhile...

YMMV - FT

I've had mine for several months now and I love it. I've put about 600 rounds through it without a problem. The recoil isn't too bad and the gun fits my hand pretty well. You should definitely try before you buy, though. It's an odd shaped grip, due to how narrow it is (of course, I have odd shaped hands).

Best of all, it's fantastic to carry, even in summer clothing. The fact that I'm more likely to have it when I need it makes a big difference.

My biggest problem with it is the magazines. At $50.00 each, I haven't bought any extras yet.
