These three seem to be pretty close in comparison when you look at features, size, and price. All come with 2 16-17 round mags. All look similarly dimensionally.

Has anyone had any experience (hands on and/or shooting) with these? Are any of these made in the USA?

SD9VE

Pros-
Lowest Price (approx $400)
Minimal controls

Cons-
Ugly
Striker fired (no double strike)

Concerns-
Poor trigger?
Hard to find

PPX

Pros-
Lower Price (approx $450)
Good trigger (from what I've read)
Made by Walther (not Umarex)

Cons-
Uglier
Pre-cocked DAO (no double strike)

P-07 Duty

Pros-
Lowish Price (approx $500)
Traditional DA/SA (double strike, familiar manual of arms)
Good, reliable reputation

Cons-
Uglest

Am I missing any other contenders (new not used) that are specifically UNDER $500 OTD?

Ruger P95 and SR series, used anything, Springfield XD (not XDm), Sig SP2022, the "slightly cheaper than a Glock/M&P/XDm/Sig/1911" group of handguns is fascinating, :)

The Smith and Wesson is made in the US. I've heard the trigger is actually decent, much better than the Sigma.

I didn't realize the PPX was not double strike capable...that sounds odd for a gun that actually has a hammer....

I personally would get the CZ or Smith....probably the Smith

Actually as Noah posted above...I would get a Ruger SR9C...they sell at one gun shop in my area for $440

I've tried the trigger on the SR guns and I think it is better than a Glock trigger...and I like the Glock trigger

The SIG SP2022 would easily be my choice over any of those for around the same price point or maybe just a little more. The Walther PPX is intersting but brand new design. IMO the Walther PPQ is easily worth the extra $100 - 150 over the PPX. I own both the SP2022 and PPQ.

As always it is best to try and rent/borrow whatever you are considering and try them out ideally on the same range trip and then make a decision but my guess is that it will be hard to find any of those to rent.

I'm a Walther fan, and I'd go with the CZ out of the 3 choices the OP listed.

Actually, I'd probably just add a $100 to my budget and get a Walther P99AS.

An extra hundred dollars in your budget will really expand your options. Save for a month, let things calm down, you'll see some used guns pop up in your local shops that fit into that $600 range and will serve you well. $600 lets you into the used M&P, XD, and Glock Market not that they are necessarily greatly better than what you listed you'll just have more options.

$600 gets you into the NEW M&P, XD, and Glock Market. It also gets you to a new P99AS, which I mentioned earlier because IMHO, it is superior to all of those pistols.

The P-07 that I bought for my Bro in law as a gift is one of the most accurate pistols I have ever fired.

I shot better with it than with my HK.

Differences between the P99AS and the "original" P99? I knew someone with a P99 in .40 and I absolutely hated it's trigger. Felt like it was two stage instead of a more consistent pull.

Of the three I've only got the SD (albeit in .40 rather than 9mm.). Its a good gun. Not spectacular - but good.

Mine has been reliable with all types of ammo except American Eagle. It chokes on that like crazy, but I've put 50 rounds of Estate, 50 rounds of Tula, 100 rounds of WWB, and 200 rounds of handloads through it without a hiccup.

The trigger is decent. Better than the Sigma, and better still if you put in the $20 Apex kit (take it down to about 6 lbs, but its a LONG 6 lbs). Egonomics are great. Its not ambi so if you're a lefty its not a good choice (unless you're ok with right-hand only controls).

Sigma magazines will fit the gun fine, but the baseplates are thicker and bottom out just as the mag-catch engages. For me this means that while a mag with the regular SD baseplate slides into the gun fine, I really have to slam the Sigma mags in with force to get them to catch else they fall back out of the gun. I'm sure S&W will have SD baseplates available separately eventually though.

Accuracy-wise, the gun has been very good to me. I'll even say that on the line slow firing its been my best gun. I've noticed though that with the heavier trigger, I can't shoot it nearly as accurately at higher speeds compared to some of my guns with lighter and shorter triggers.

Overall the gun is a great budget gun. Nothing much to complain about. If I had to buy it over again though I might would go for a Ruger SR40 instead.

I will say that the Walther PPX does look very interesting. I'll probably get one to try out eventually.

I own the SD and the P-07. For the low asking price of around $320, the Smith is a great gun. I recommend it often. The P-07 is an exceptional value though. That trigger is excellent. Honestly, I put it up against my $800 Sigs.

If the Manf is not in a Free State, then I will no longer buy from them.

Believe CZ & Walther are in KS now (?), which HAS to be much better than MA.

I would kinda like to try that PPX, for the money.:)

The P-07's I've seen have all been priced around $400, not $500. It is an incredible value.
