Yesterday I purchased a new Walther SP22 M2 for $250.00 "out the door price". It has good balance and looks nice. I have only had time to shoot 14 Federal bulk rounds through it and it was accurate and functioned well. I Googled it and didn't find many reviews about it. Has anyone had either good or bad experiences with this model? Is it okay to dry fire this model? Does anyone know how many SP22 handguns were manufactured? Also, can someone provide me with any information on how to take it apart to clean? A step by step photo disassembly would be really helpful.

So first Cotton101, welcome to the forum! Glad to have you and the questions you asked.
1. You need to know the metal in the slide is referred to as "pot" metal. If you google slide crack and p22 you'll see many problems.
2. I could not get mine to cycle correctly with bulk ammo, only the velocitor and stingers would work 100 percent.
3. I would not dry fire, invest in some snap caps if you need the practice.

Should have came with a manual with detailed instructions for disassembly and cleaning.

First thing you need to know is that guy that said "the first thing you need to know" is completely wrong.
The SP22 is not the P22. The SP22 has an aluminum housing. It cocks like an Olympic style gun. It has a two stage trigger, superior to others for target shooting. You pull it, feel it come to a different stage and now you know past this it is firing.
The SP22 line in America is no longer. CDNN holds the last of them I THINK. You did fine for price, though the M3 is going for 20 dollars more. The M3 has an adjustable trigger (up or down weight, over travel) and a match grade barrel.
CDNN has different grips (smaller), sights, weights, laser, all the goodies.
The main complaint about the SP22 is the there's some questionable metal in critical spots. However, the gun is robust.
Don't dry fire any auto 22. The firing pin is different than a center fire's. The pin will likely extend too far in a dry fire compared to a center fire.
You wont find anything on the SP22. They just did not take. Which is a shame because at their current prices they are a bargain.

You were clearly talking about the P22. Not the SP22.
there is only a small zmack piece in the SP22. I haven't read anyone breaking one.

That may be true on the P22, but the OP asked about the SP22, which is a totally, completely different gun. The SP22 "slide" is not pot metal at all, but steel.
The slide mass of the SP22 is actually pretty small and functions reliably with a wide variety of ammo. Your experience with a totally different gun is irrelevant.

The rest of the gun is aluminum on the outside and steel on the inside.
Really a shame this gun wasn't better constructed (Walther made, not Uramex Walther made) and better received.

Okay, I will stop dry firing it now. Thanks for the advise. Was trying to get used to the trigger pull.
Where can I get a M3 for $20.00 more than I paid for the M2? I will probably buy one if I can find it at that price. I think this is a very nice looking gun and could use two.

The M3 is available for 269 at CDNN. If you google CDNN you will come to their website.
The M4, with its wood grip, is 400 I think. Huge drop from the 6-700 it started out at.
