Want a cheap carry gun?

If i remember right, my CZ-75 has like 70 parts total. I carry it and have never had even a hiccup from it.

Congratulations...mine looks a lot worse... Btw, where are those little ball bearings that go between the frame and the safety lever? The steel inserts behind my safety lever look awful as well...

Glad you showed a picture of yours...adds color to my comment about the complex design, which is why I wouldn't carry one over a Makarov...

Congratulations, some hack has probably had yours apart before.

No kidding the CZ is more complicated .....It has many more desirable features. Ambidextrous mag release (located in the proper place), ambidextrous manual safety which offers choices, cocked & locked SA or DA first shot.

Did I mention better sights, better trigger & more capacity.....I have a little over a 1000 rounds through mine now (FMJ & HP) without a single malfunctions.

BTW.....Most pistols are more complicated than a Mak.....Apparently to you that makes them unreliable to the point of can't be trusted. As if there's any absolutes in this world...lol

Fastcast, I'm with you on the CZ82 features, that's why I bought one, and the prices are very hard to beat nowadays.

The CZ82 has all the features one could ask for, but for a defensive pistol, more parts to me, means more places to fail and I'm not personally comfortable with that, which is why I carry a Glock.

I'm not making absolute statements here either so please don't misinterpret what I'm saying, YMMV. I've been in harms way and have seen equipment fail. I hope you never have to draw your weapon to defend your life, but if you do, I'm glad your confident in your choice and I pray you keep safe.

Thanks for the kind words Paladin7 and the same to you!

There has been a member here who has spent time in Afghanistan and said he's came across Czech soldiers still carrying the CZ82 and he said after speaking with them, it seems they love the little pistol and trust their life with it.....YMMV

I've toyed with getting one, but more just to have one. If I really wanted a cheaper carry gun in 9x18 it would be the CZ. It is a better gun IMHO. At least one reason is most everyone will be able to pull the trigger with only one finger. The double action trigger pull is likely the biggest reason I haven't bought one of the Hungarians yet.

As to being complicated and thus not fit for carry? When have you heard of them failing? I'm not planning to detail strip my gun in a gun fight. I agree theoretically more parts equals more things that could fail but to say that only tells part of the story, and doesn't really speak to the MUCH more important issue of the probability of any given part failing.

The CZ 82 is not a failure prone or unreliable gun.

I carry a glock too, but its not because I think my CZ is prone to failure.

I bet you are restless in anticipation of the Caracal and will buy one the moment they are available to replace your glock, after all the caracal is less failure prone by your logic and a therefore a better carry gun. Right?

I understand what your getting at but your reasoning is spurious at least in the sense that it doesn't account for all pertinent factors.

I have enjoyed my little PA63. It weighs a little more than my KT PF9. It weighs 24ozs as opposed to the PF9 @ 14ozs. They are close in size to each other. Marschals has some nice grips for all of the eastern bloc guns for a great price. Mine has never had an issue and one of the first things I did was change the springs out. It now has a 9lb DA and a very light SA pull.

My cz-82 has been very reliable. As a bonus, due to the ergonomics and fantastic trigger, I can shoot it very well. I would trust my life to it without hesitation. Wouldn't be my first choice to carry as a sidearm to war, but I wouldn't complain if that's what I was issued.
