I bought a "Radom" Polish P-64 from J&G. The finish was VG and everything about it was great except the DA trigger pull. It was horrendous. I got on YouTube and everyone there said the same thing, "25 lb. DA trigger pull."

So I ordered a reduced poundage hammer spring and recoil spring from Wolff. I got the springs today and replaced the springs and now the DA pull is manageable but still not real good. I'd guess about 16-18 lbs. The SA trigger is now a dream almost like a professional trigger job.
Also, the empties are not launched into orbit anymore. They are found (maybe) about 15-20 feet away instead of 40 feet.

Since I have the original spring, I may cut it down and experiment with how low it can go and still function. And the Wolff springs aren't that expensive so I could cut down one of those too after getting a spare.

Please keep us posted as to your ongoing progress with making the trigger on your P64 more manageable. I remember looking at one at my LGS and while the price was right, that DA trigger pull was not! I don't think on that particular model I could even dryfire it in the DA mode! The SA trigger pull wasn't much better but that DA trigger was a real bear to use!

bannockburn,

The hammer spring from Wolff is only $4.29. The original hammer spring is the main reason the DA pull is ridiculous. The hammer spring is also responsible for activating the magazine release and if it is too weak, the magazine may drop out during firing. I think that if I cut a coil or maybe 1 1/2 coils off the reduced poundage hammer spring, the DA pull could get down to 10-12 lbs. yet still hold the clip securely.
The only way I know to see is to try it and see what happens.

I also got a reduced poundage recoil spring and it makes it a lot easier to work the slide or hold it back during assembly. I would recommend getting both springs from Wolff.

The pistol itself is well made and sturdily built. No cheap plastic here except for the grips.

If you go too low on the hammer spring, you may get FTF with hard primers in some steel cased ammo. Ask me how I know.

There are several bad things that can happen. I plan to quit for now because the SA trigger is so light that it may go off prematurely or go into a full-auto burst if I monkey with it more.

I reload so I don't buy steel-cased ammo but hard primers can happen with any military ammo. I also don't want to help out the Russian economy by purchasing any of their products.

The one I used to own had good double & single action trigger pulls. Likewise one I handled at lgs recently was also ok. There some out there with DA pull that is up there with Soviet Nagant revolver ie truly awful. I admit I would not know which springs to replace and what poundage to select.

Another thing worth getting is a Polish Iron Grip. I have over two dozen handguns that fire the 9x18 round and the P64 is by far the most unpleasant to shoot. But with the Wolff springs and especially the replacement rubber grip it is comfortable to shoot. Polish Iron also makes an extended magazine release too. No, I am not associated in any way with this product, just a very satisfied customer !
