I love this site and now do the majority of firearms related research here. I have read a lot of threads here about Duracoating and decided to take it on myself. From what I have read, I am going to skip on the can air sprayers. I already have an air compressor, so I was just going to buy a spray gun. Will this one do the job or should I consider something else.

Thank you.

Your link gives two pages of paint spray guns ranging for low end automotive to middle end Chinese house painter guns.

I was thinking you use an Air Brush for Duracoat??

Whoops! I messed the link up. Fixed now! I have read that some people use hvlp guns.

I'm sure that spray gun would work. I have Duracoated two long guns and a pistol. I use an airbrush, and the amount of Duracoat that the little bottle that came from Luaer will hold is plenty enough to do one gun at a time, if that's how your going to do it. The airbrush can be adapted to an air compressor.

For most Duracoat gun work that would be too big. You are much better off with a very nice art type airbrush. I bought a Badger model 250-2 at a local art store and have done about 10 guns with it with no problems. Cost was around $20.00, do recommend buying a larger bottle to hold the coating, they usally sell them right by the air brushes.

Check out some of the Nutnfancy videos on YouTube. He's duracoated everything but his dog. He's got a few vids on how to duracoat, what equipment to use, etc... I think the previous poster is correct in saying that you want a small Airbrush.

The durabake comes in an aerosol can and would probably be more practical for you if you where only going to spray one gun.

Just a thought.

yes airbrush and READ ALL of the curing notes.

If you don't want your new finish to get dull or worn looking make sure not to use it in and out of a holster for at least 30 days. If you can't wait that long use the DuraBake finish.

AND MAKE CERTAIN you don't get any on your barrel if you like to do long strings of rapid shooting, especially if you are using HOT or MAG rounds. If that is the case coat just your barrel with DuraHeat.

and a last warning:

DO NOT GET ANY OF THE 3 COATINGS INSIDE THE BARREL
