I've been looking around for a new lubricant for my S.A.1911. I've found that FP-10 seems to be well liked but I have a few questions about it. It seems to made by several different companies. What is considered the "real" FP-10? And also, where can I order it? I've heard that Brownell's carried it but I can't seem to find it online or in my catalog.

Much Thanks,

-Kevin

Thanks Cueball. While I appreciate the link, I forgot to mention that I didn't want the aerosol. I see though that it's the Shooters Choice brand. Is that considered to be the best as far as FP-10 goes? If so I'll just order it direct.

Thanks again,

-Kevin

Kevin,
AFAIK there is only one FP-10, originally designed/made by FirePower Inc and sold under their name as FP-10. My understanding is that Shooter's Choice bought marketing rights and sells the same product as Shooter's Choice FP-10. I use the SC version because it is available locally. The liquid version works great on 1911's but I REALLY DISLIKE the aerosol version. It is a mess and you can't control the application.

Good shooting and be safe.

One of the members on another board sent me a large bottle of FP-10 as a gift, asking me to try it.

I've been alternately using it with Militec-1 for a couple of years and I've found it does a fine job.

I certainly prefer both to BreakFree CLP, although I'll use that in a pinch if that's all that's at the bench at work ...

Been using FP10 for about a year. I bought the shooters choice stuff after reading the FAQ on the firepower site and finding out it was the same. In short, it is a fine cleaner and lube. It continues to free up dirt and carbon over time, so wiping on a light coat and letting it sit on your 1911 will help loosen up grime over time.

It's pretty cheap, try some,

After using Breakfree CLP for years I started using FP-10 a little while ago. It is very good stuff. I have a local company that practically sells it to me at cost. I think it was $12 for a 16oz bottle.

Best lube I have found, I use it in barrel also, "appears" to improve accuracy
over time and makes cleaning easier. Most improvement was on a Ruger 22/45
polymer frame slide operation was much smoother/faster.

I used it for about eight years of pin practice and pin match shooting.
Worked great for me.
Ran out a while ago and forgot to get some more.
Thanks for reminding me.

It's just about all I use (maybe some grease every now and then, just for variety). I grab a couple bottles at a time off their website (link above). Great stuff.
