Small CCW

KelTec P11..... Twice the capacity of the revolvers, better caliber (to me), same size and weight. I like the small J-frame Smiths and Colt Cobra's.. (I have both). But they just don't offer the same firepower in the same size package. Plus, after you buy your KelTec you then wonder what took you so long. I like the looks of the Stars, FEG's, etc. but apparently parts are difficult to find, and customer service, if any, is in a foreign country and they don't "speaka English" anyway. If my P11 ever bobbles I'll call Cocoa, Fl. the Customer Service person will advise me to ship her back to them, and they will fix the problem, free, forever, and offer to "check out" everything else while they have it.. No Charge, period. KelTec's reputation for Customer Service is 2nd to none. A plus is that you are spending your hard-earned money on an American product. Lordy I love America..... Best Wishes

Most all of the recommended products have been American made. ie: Kahr, Ruger and Kel-tec.

I considered the P11 a couple of times, but when I held the gun it felt like more of a brick than a Glock.

For true deep concealment, one cannot go wrong with a P32 or P3AT.

If you are going to step up to something bigger, I definitely recommend one of the steel Kahr's or Ruger SP101.

The 2" SP101 would prabably be a little easier to conceal than the 3". My 3" in an OWB holster just hangs down enough to make me worry about it being seen.

Kahrs are recommended ok.......cool. But comparing a Keltec P11 to a brick rather than a Glock? :scrutiny:  ok......hmmmmmmmmmm.

Ive had all of the above and the KT p11 is as thin and narrow in the grip as the Kahr. Given its a double stack/poly grip vs steel grip/single stack its a pretty good thing and the KT is shorter in the grip without the mag extension. Much like an MK series Kahr.

Ive also carried an SP101/J frame/CIA in my front pocket as well as all of the above. The KT is hands down the smallest/ lightest of them all and carries the most firepower........

They are all good guns and anyone would do you well. For a snub the SP is built like a tank but will carry in a good pocket holster. Same with the K series......the P11 is still the easiest for me.

Shoot well.

Having them for training guns, I've carried a Mak, SP-101, Kahr K-9 and some baby Glocks. There is no comparison for me in size/weight/comfort to airweight 38s or PM9. But the new Kel-Tec 380 does have similar, or possibly greater appeal, carry-comfort-wise. I've yet to pop for one, altho such is next on my "want list".

Beyond the .380 not being known as a very good "manstopper", another consideration might be the "cost of food". I ran into a lady student while in line at Bass Pro shops today. With the UMC being the cheapest practice ammo they had, she'd just had to pay $10 a box for her Walther, when I can feed the 9s factory ammo all week long for $6 to $7 a box, sometimes $4. The big boys just don't seem to run "specials" on .380 ammo. And a decent price around here on .38 Spec. practice ammo is typically at least $8 ...

Cost of .380 Ammo?

The cost of .380 ammo is terribly high, UNLESS you purchase it by the case. Then you will find it to be about the same price as 9mm in most types of ammo.

So, test some and then buy it by the case and you'll be MUCH happier.

I have several cases of .380, much of it police or military surplus and I paid exactly the same as I did for the same ammo in 9mm when I got it.
