Found this on Subguns board-more than 1 or 2 states are preparing to hear a bill on putting numbers on ammunition, with the result that all ammunition not bearing the 'registration' numbers must be disposed of before 2011. Not to mention the added cost of each round to pay for the new numbering. And each purchase would be recorded by big brother! AND, BAN reloading! have 2008 Legislation

AZ bill is going nowhere, not even assigned to committees yet, probably won't be. Still the fact that nearly identical bills filed at the same time in widely differant areas points to a very well organized oppsition who worked quietly for this effect. Time to research who was behind this concerted effort, and render them moot.

The Mississippi bill is also dead. It's in committee and the chairman has already said it is not being brought up for discussion.

This might be a wake-up call to those gun owners who believe nobody would object to their kind of guns. Ammo and reloading restrictions would elicit common reactions across a broad spectrum of otherwise unassociated gun owners.

It is good to hear that the bill is going nowhere in several states. But "they" will keep trying, and one of these days, one of the nanny states will pass it. We need to stay vigilant.

Maryland

Hearing next Tuesday on this bill in Maryland, they tried to bamboozle gunnies by having it heard in both the Judicial Committee and the Ways and Means Committee at the SAME TIME on the SAME DAY.

I wish we could sell Prince George's and Montgomery counties to another state or another country, Maryland would be a great state without 'em....

It looks like the Indiana bill is dead for this session at least. I did write my Rep to voice my concern that such legislation is even being introduced and urged him to fight anything similar that comes up again.

Any guess as to whether this volley of legislation is back door gun control or somebody trying to make a bunch of money selling their laser etching technology?

Jer..

In Mississippi the three senators who sponsored the bill were all left wingers. Two were from the same area as Bennie Thompson, who is a big anti. However, the good thing about Mississippi is that no bill like this will make it.

It's already happened in California.
I think you are confusing ammo serialization with microstamping.

It'll go nowhere in PA.

Of more interest are the groups and people that orchestrate these efforts across states.

If they're the result of genuine grass roots, then I'm a 16th century nun.

Bills in WA are like zombies, the dead become the living dead....

3148 (AFL) was DEAD, today my rep called, they pulled it and it was passed to the senate... a zombie bill if you will....

This is the enemy of freedom that introduced Indiana's bill. I don't think it will go anywhere this year, but let this guy know what you think.

As Ash said regarding Mississippi...

When I saw MS was on the list, I immediately looked it up. No suprise that it was sponsored by "The Usual Suspects."

Every state has one or two. Some states are run by them.

Even though I am not from any of the aforementioned states, I feel the need to stand against this type of asinine law-making. Sportsman (remember, everyone, if we call ourselves target shooters or anything related to guns, we will be seen as 'trigger-happy illegal gun-toting thugs' by all politicians.) everywhere need to take a stand against this type of nonsense. If we let them pass that senseless law in ANY state, politicians will pounce and try to impose it on all other states in an attempt to boost their popularity among non-shooters. What we need are more pro-gun rallies, showing positive propaganda, and which politicians are against that, to ensure that they will never be elected, and to remove the notion from any other politicians on the rise. As far as Billy Crawford, you can count on me giving him a piece of my mind. Let's all do the same, to protect our sport (recreational shooting), regardless of our different firearm interests.

Here in Pennsylvania the gun laws are, in my opinion, friendly.
However, there is a group that comes up yearly with some ridicules 'Bills'
Last year was :Rregistartion of all firearms, each and every year, at a cost of $10.00 each firearm, each year.

Now serialize ammo!? Don't these people have something better to do then dream up "most ridicules bills"---"Ideas "

P.S.------Could this be Gov. Ed Rendell (Pa) Following Mayor Bloomburg (NYC)
Orders???????

This may have a good chance of getting passed in Maryland. I emailed all the reps on the committees and only one replied that he would vote against this, that was Representative Jennings. If the others vote for it, we here in the 'free' state will be sunk.
