P.S.------Could this be Gov. Ed Rendell (Pa) Following Mayor Bloomburg (NYC)
Orders???????

Unlikely, Bill. Fast Eddie hasn't met a gun control law he doesn't like, but he's a political opportunist, not a true believer.

I don't have a lock on the thing, but it looks like the usual route of entry is some shadowy national group X (Joyce Foundation? Bradyites? Soros? X?) who orchestrates these things through their local faux "grassroots" cutouts (such as Ceasefire, etc) to Philadelphia area politicians with a "D" after their name to the statehouse.

The true believers who give the thing what little legs it has are the local PHL politicians, but without the shadow groups to guide them, they'd be floundering around making speeches, rather than freedom endangering legislation.

Somebody should ask the bill sponsors why they want to funnel money to a sole-source technology licensed to an out of state (New Hampshire) company? Follow the money, shine light on the rats, watch them scurry.

Three Bullet Serialization (Registration) Bills Defeated in Hawaii! This week Senate Bill 2020 (Nishihara, 18), Senate Bill 2076 (Taniguchi, 10), and House Bill 2392 (Waters, 51) were all defeated in committee. These measures would mandate that each round of ammunition sold or possessed in Hawaii be marked with a unique serial number and registered to the purchaser at the time of sale. Records would include the date of transaction, the purchaser's name, date of birth, drivers license number, and the serial number of the ammunition. The possession or sale of non-coded/serialized ammunition would be prohibited. These back-door registration bills were defeated because of the many calls and emails made by NRA members and pro-gun supporters. Please keep checking your emails and www.NRAILA.org for more legislative updates.

What ! No New Jersey ? !!!!! Ooops ! You don't have a right to own a gun in New Jersey !!!!! >MW
Doesn't matter. Despite the fact the technology doesn't even exist, NJ already enacted "smart gun" legislation years ago. Of course police are exempt.

Excellent detective work on the source here:

OK,

Little digging and poking and I think we have the culprits.

The core legislation document was written a person called Briahna Taylor for the law firm Gordon Thomas Honeywell.

As if by magic one of their clients is called Ammunition Coding System.
www.ammocoding.com

This appears to be a shell for a company called Ravensforge LLC

Ravensforge inventors or record are Mr Steve Mace of Seattle, Washington and Mr Russel H Ford also of Seattle

As if by magic they have a patent pending for this magical system

It is very interesting to see that as part of their About Us mission statement they boldly state that the implementation requires legislation.

Interestingly enough they also intend to charge a licencing fee for EVERY bullet sold as well.....

I would suggest that the folks in each of the legislations where this is being pushed pass this info onto the relevant political persons whith questions such as.

This legislation is only being pushed by a single vendor as a commericial enterprise. In effect using the legislation as their sales force (without paying them......
This system is proprietory and with patent pending will lock out any other provider
The system has not had any validation, peer review etc
The system will act an inherent restraint on interstate trade
The information provided via the system will contain data that is generally regarded as PII (Personally Identifiable Information) and as such has legislative protection
Due to it's nature the system may broach 5th amendment self incrimination protection.

Just some random thoughts:

I don't think that that would work with hollow-based wad-cutters.

I'm sure that some powders (cordite, though not used commercially an longer, comes to mind) might burn it off or otherwise make it illegible.

On the base of a .17 or a .22, really?

The picture shows a bullet with a copper base - does that mean the end of lead only bullets.

I don't see this working with BP round balls or Minié balls.

All of the legislation brought in PA has been effectively DOA. Almost all of it originates in Philadelphia and quite frankly no bill will pass, effecting the whole commonwealth, designed to make the legislators from the city feel better. I forget who said it but: "Pennsylvania has Philadelphia at one end, Pittsburgh at the other, and Alabama in the middle"

Makes me want to cast some wheel weights.

Ammo serializing--reloading would be banned too!

If you read the gist of what they want, nobody could be reloading, because of the serial numbers, and all current ammo would have to be disposed of by 2011! So, reloading would be outlawed!
And, yes, I was going to post the ammocoding web link but somebody beat me to it, thanks! I have already emailed my reps and a few others who aren't in my district, and you can bet I'm gonna send one to the main guy in district 98 in Indiana!
This is so ridiculous! :banghead:
As another poster stated, "follow the money" wanna bet he's getting a promise of monetary support? Grrrrr...:cuss:
We have to be so vigilant these days, cause they'll try to slip something past without any notice. I'm keeping my eyes on all the boards and if I hear anything more, will cross post!

Oh, and if you can't serialize the ammo, wanna bet it'll be banned?

They tried this crap in CT and it never even made it to the drafting phase of legislation.
