Could someone please tell me if my ammo is still OK to shoot after going through the washer. That's what happened just awhile ago. Stupid me needs to put bullets somewhere other than my pant pockets. :banghead:

I've accidentally washed and dryed pistol handloads, and they fire just fine.

I wouldn't use it in a carry gun, but it should be safe to use for plinking/taget practice, if they don't go off they dont go off. You might want to check that the bullets didn't get pushed deeper into the cases though.

dito on it probably working,

it happens, not a big deal, if you get a squib, just point it safe for a few min.

don't use it for HD but for range work it should be ok.

how much did you wash anyway?

Most likely it will.

I have had ammo from .22 rimfire to shotgun shells fire after being wet. Be it the washer, shooting a tourney in the rain, training in the rain, duck hunting, falling in duck hunting [ I have a PhD for finding bar ditches in resevoirs nobody knew existed] to My carry gun going swimming with me attached to holster to ...I don't care if the receiver says "870 Marine" , it ain't gonna float...I checked this out at least twice to make sure...

FWIW, 28 ga hulls are pretty quiet in a washing machine in a delicate bag...they make all sorts of racket in the dryer...
They are loudest when the wifey was supposed to have left for work - the wifey that forgot to tell me her schedule changed and she was off that day and left to run an errand.

<noise> "what is that racket?"

"hi honey, just doing the laundry"

"Really!" <smirky grin, arms folded, dog runs to her side as she heads to dryer>

"Honey, you shrunk the 12 ga hulls".

Whoops...

should be fine for target practice/plinking.

Whats the worse that could happen? It isn't like washing it is going to magically make it do a bigger boom

Teenage son of a friend once took a couple of 12 ga. shotgun shells that his mom had washed in his hunting coat on a dove hunt. One of them squibbed in his nice new 870 Special Field and the subsequent quickly fired round destroyed the barrel. Luckily it didn't hurt the shooter. If you asked Kenneth if it was a good idea he'd likely say "NO!"

This has absolutely nothing to do with whether it is safe to shoot a round that got wet, but rather a problem with someone not paying attention. The squib load could have happened at any time for various reasons, and letting off another shot after a squib is a bad idea in all cases, regardless of the reason for the squib.
