Felony charge deferred based on behavior
http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/news/story?id=1935971

DENVER -- Nuggets forward Rodney White pleaded guilty to two weapons charges and agreed to 100 hours of community service to get a third charge dropped.

White pleaded guilty Tuesday in Washington, D.C., to charges of possessing an unregistered firearm and unregistered ammunition.

Prosecutors agreed to dismiss a charge of carrying a pistol without a license if White completes his community service in Washington by Sept. 6.

White would face no further jail time.

He spent two weeks in jail after he and two other men were arrested in Washington on Sept. 5 for allegedly shooting randomly into the air.

"This has been a tough time for me, my team and my family," White said in a statement. "I sincerely apologize for what I have done and look forward to having this matter placed behind me."

"Shooting randomly into the air" :scrutiny:

The part they left out of the story was .......while driving through Rock Creek Park (Natl Park Service property) in a moving vehicle, in posession of an illegal firearm (handgun in DC).

So if I get pulled over in DC for the same offence, think they'll defer my felony charges too? :banghead:

The Second Amendment says that you charge him with reckless endangerment (or such) for shooting into the air in a populated area and drop the rest of the unConstitutional charges about guns and ammo.

Sigh...

One of these days, we're going to have to hold a bake sale, and buy a WWII vintage cargo plane, so we can airdrop about a bazillion Liberators to our beleaguered 3rd rate Federal District Citizens, so they can sort that all out for themselves.

That would, of course, be pointless and futile, as DC is 90%+ Blue, which means that 100% of those unregistered guns and ammo would be handed in.

Naturally, no self respecting gangster/crack dealer would be caught dead with a crappy single shot that requires you to poke out the spent shell with a stick. :neener:
