I have both Tapco poly and mil surp mags for my WASR 10-63 and they both function just fine. Now, I need a few more 30 rounders and I'm looking for a little help on the best mag and price. Thanks for lookin'!

Aim surplus, centerfire systsms, and/or apex gun parts all typically have some flavor of military surplus steel, eastern european magazines. I have a mix of them myself and ALL of the surplus steel mags I have work perfect. I prefer them to the tapco or other poly mags for AK rifles. (It my AR I prefer Magpul).

10.00 - 12.00 is typical, and a great price IMO.

I too like the steel eastern commie mags that I have now. They just feel right for some reason. I bought one of those Viet Nam mag pouches and I want it full for some reason and the steel mags slip in and out of this pouch.

Thanks for that link, wnycollector. I found Tapco polys for 7 bucks each with 9 dollar shipping. I like the steel mags, but at $79 delivered for 10 Tapco poly mags, who knows?

Aim has the steel European mil surps, ten for $102 delivered. The only problem is, and I feel a bit silly asking, will these mags make my gun illegal? It's from Classic and it came with Tapcos. My gut says it's a non-issue, but, can anybody say for sure? Thanks!

I had some plastic Promag mags that worked well at first, but eventually started causing malfunctions. Switched back to USSRGI steel and no issues. I would stick with them.

As for the legal issue, no, you wouldn't have any legal liability as long as you didn't assemble the rifle. 922(r) only prohibits assembly of the rifle in a non-compliant configuration, so even if it doesn't have the requisite number of domestic parts, its not on you. How are you supposed to know the country of origin on all the parts if you just bought the thing, anyway?
