My fire control group axis pin ( the one that goes through the trigger and shepherds spring ) is walking out. More like walking inward . If I pull the trigger the pin slips in and I have to push it back in with my finger. (No I am not firing the rifle in this condition ) Doe's anyone here have any clue why this could be happening?

Sounds like the spring that is supposed to hold it isn't doing its job.

There's a really good retainer plate that will take the place of that spring. It is much easier to remove if you need to get into the works.

Red Star Arms makes and sells it, and it is easily worthwhile. If you have to remove that spring to dink with it anyway, may as well make it easy to replace. They charge right at $13 for it.

Yeah I have looked at the spring and it seems to be installed correctly. I just can't figure it out. I'll post some pictures soon .

Mike56, that's exactly what I was talking about. For a buck cheaper, even.

The pins themselves should have grooves in them that the shepherd's crook spring fits into. If yours doesn't, then you'll need a new pin, but while you're replacing it, I'd just go ahead and get the retainer plate too. Trust me, it's a world of difference in terms of ease.

I built two AKs one with e-clips and the other one with a retaining plate. The AK with the e-clips is working fine but the pin has some play it looks like the pin could work it's way out but it hasn't. The retaining holds the pins tight almost no play. My two cents.

Get the plate. I have been through this war on both my saiga shotgun and rifle and for the piece of mind some goofy clip or spring will slip and ruin your day it is worth 12 bucks.

Buy the right size and it won't slip. The size escapes me at the moment, but a search should turn it up.
