I recently moved from Arlington, VA back to Texas.
Before I left, I went to a gun show in VA and bought some TAPCO goodies for my WASR-10. GALIL Style Hand Guards, rails, 6 position collapsible stock and pistol grip, all for $80

I watched my friend did his WASR-10 and he had lots of trouble getting the original stock to come off, unfortunately so am I. He ended up cracking his stock and pretty much destroying it. I wish to keep the wood furniture altogether, if possible.

I am also having trouble getting the gas tube off of the Wood Upper Hand Guard.

Anyone have any tips to getting this pieces removed, I do not want to destroy the wood if possible.

You just have to be really, really careful when you turn it so that it does not crack. It fits tight, and the lacquer sticks to the steel and glues it in place sometimes. Good luck! I had to replace the upper HG on my WASR, it was broken when I got it.

Try using a screwdriver to help leverage and wedge out the stock from inside the receiver. It sure helped me when I replaced the wood on my WASR. Also, a rubber mallet helps.
