My wasr ak-47 clone seems to have real trouble feeding the hollow tip ammo. Anyone else have this? Is it possible to correct? Can I make that little ramp going into the chamber bigger?
Maybe I should just avoid those dumb hollow tips. What the heck are they good for anyway?
Thanks,
jim

Make sure your rounds are sitting all the way back against the rear wall of the magazine, my Romanian AK taught me this with Barnaul Hollow Points. Also, does it do this with all your magazines?

"slap" your mags after you load them up, to make sure the cartridges are sitting as far back as possible. Make a habit of doing this after you load up. Also, stay away from Crapco (tapco) plastic mags. The more $$ surplus steel mags are far better.

Try different magazines (preferably European metal milsurp). If that doesn't work, next time you're at the range, chamber a round slowly (ride the bolt handle) with the rifle pointed downrange, and see where the round is hanging up. If you have a sharp edge on the feed ramp, a little gentle beveling might be sufficient, for example.

Most AK's feed JHP's fine, so I think it's an issue with your particular rifle, probably either a bad magazine or a rough/oddly angled feed ramp/bullet guide.
