Hi All
I was thinking of picking up a jug of the WC 844 to try out on 223Rem reloads. I was looking at the sight and it said that WC 844T is for tracers. Is there realy a differance in the two? Could I use the T for standard loads or would there be a down side to it? Sence it says it hoter I am guessing more barrel wear?

What say the group?
Thanks
WB

I've had no trouble lighting tracers with WC 844 or H335 powder. I've read that the deterrent coating on the two 844 powders are different which lets the flame of the 844T burn hotter. I suspect it would in the long run cause more barrel throat erosion.

Hitech Ammo? Give him a call. I tnink his name is Dan but he enjoys talking. He will be glad to tell you the difference.

Along with the hotter flame barrel erosion there would be more muzzle flash as the bullet exits the barrel with some loads as I understand it. Never tried it either as H335 has worked well enough for me in the past.

Both of those are bulk grade powders, and you absolutely must work up a load for each lot of each powder. You can't make generalized statements comparing one powder to another. In fact, if you buy different lots of either powder, there can be significant differences in pressure and velocity with the same weight of powder. Always use caution when working with any pulldown powder, but you will find then extremely satisfactory for their intended calibers and weights of bullets, and very economical. I'd suggest buying as much powder as you can at one time to insure all of it is from the same lot.

Hi Metelguy
I am hep to the canister grade powders. I was just wondering if there was any sort of danger of running the T on a regular basis. If its a hotter buring powder will it burn out (wear) the barrel faster or is it not that big of a differance. They say its hotter to egnite tracers but how much hotter is the question I guess?

Thanks
WB
