Good news & bad news....

Good news is Hi-Tech has it back in stock.

Bad news is it's $144 / 8lbs. Not sure why I'd buy more vs just going back to H335 for a few bucks more?

I have ~40lb left from last time I bought it and I remember it being significantly less than H335 but I don't remember exact price. $80 something sticks in my mind as what it was & that wasn't all THAT long ago - early 2012.

I don't know where else to shop for it - I've only ever bought it from Hi-Tech & only seen it (never in stock) at Widener's occasionally. I bought a crap ton of CCI#41 & #500 primers & WC844 powder since they were such a good deal from Hi-Tech.

Not even sure if I should buy more unless I do find it again at a steep discount. The lot I have now performs identically to H335. I didn't change my load 1/10 and notice no difference in chrony results, POI, or group sizes using the lot of H335 & the lot of WC844 I have on hand interchangeably. Granted a new lot of either might change that - I don't expect that to always be the case.

I bought a boat load when I think t was $68 for 8 pounds, Anyway I bought a LOT, still using it. Mine exactly duplicates H335, but I agree, at those prices I think I'd just hold out for H335. Surplus powder used to be a great deal because it was priced way below new powder. With the new prices, not so much so.

I too used to buy surplus powders. Bought a few lots of WC 844 powder and back in the day it was a great value. My lots of WC 844 varied especially when buying from multiple dealers. Some lots exactly like H 335 with a few faster and one particular lot a lot slower. Today with surplus powder being scarce I don't think it's a good value. I've switched to H335 only and now I don't have to do load workups every time I switch lot numbers of surplus. I'll pay more to avoid the hassle. I'll still buy surplus WC 860 powder for the 50 BMG as long as it's available as it takes 8 pounds to load approximately 250 rounds.

I still have a pretty good amount of surplus rifle powder. I should have bought way more pistol powder. I got powder from Hi-Tech and GIBrass when prices were low. I should have bought MORE!

Think Last time I paid $100/8lbs when I purchased like 32lb

and yes... i shoulda got more:p

Last time I bought WC844 I paid $76/8lbs so I agree, no reason to pay $144 for WC844. It's surplus powder for goodness sake!

Since you still have 40 lbs I see no reason to rush out and buy more at those prices. I would wait a while for things to stabilize and the prices come down.

In the description it says new production powder and the site shows a seperate item for pull down powder. So I guess it is fresh never loaded powder.
