Does anyone have any loading experience with these powders? I understand that discounted AA8700 data can be used for starting loads. Wideners has a sale on both. I load .223/308/30 06/ 6.55 swiss. Would I be wasting $$ on ordering this powder ?

Those powders are far too slow burning to be used in the rounds that you mentioned. They are used in magnum case rounds like the 257 Weatherby and such, pushing the heavy bullets. That's why they're on sale.

You need to find WC846 or WC844 for your rounds. WC846 is close to BLC2 in burn rate and WC844 is close to H335. I recommend not getting the surplus powders ending in a T like WC844T. Those are hotter burning to light tracer bullets and I would not use them.

www.patsreloading.com has WC846 at a decent price.

Thanks Smitty just what I thought. I knew $49.00 was to good to be true. Just thought some one out there had figured out a way to load it without blowing anything up.

It won't blow you up. They are very super slow burning powders. Literally if you put a pile on the ground and light it the pile will just kinda fizzle and half combust. I have had good results with WC860 duplexed in .45-70 and .375 H&H cartridges. It also does work okay in the .30-06 If you are a bullet caster an are looking for cheap plinking ammo then it does work quite well. But if you are buying jacketed bullets you might as well buy canister powder too.

Yes I like WC860 have 16 Lbs. of it I got from Bartlett a few years ago. Also WC820 for 44 Mag. and 30 Carb. There may be hope in the future as I've noticed prices starting to fall. It's seems to be more fun when you think you got a deal.

I reload for most of the calibers you list. WC872 was really slow for my 264 Win Mag. Its also pretty dirty, some will say no, if you do get it bring a bore snake to the range...and yes its a waste of your money. Varget, IMR 4064, H4350 and just about anything in between would be great.
