Just received the following from Widener's and thinking about placing an order:

For a limited time, stock up on US Military Surplus Powder. This powder is from pulled M855 US ammo and has been double screened, inspected, loaded and tested. Use with M856 or M193 or other 22 cal bullets.

Order in 6 keg quantites and we will pay the Haz Mat fee of $27.50 per 6 kegs. Mix or match with SMP844T, WC867 or WC872 in multiples of 6 and we pay the Haz Mat. You pay the shipping (UPS etc) charges.

    SMP844 SURPLUS POWDER 844 $85.00 8LB KEG

Disclaimer: I have no connection with Widener's other than being a satisfied cutomer and I have never personally tried this powder. Since most .223 powder is now running about $25 per pound, this sounds like a pretty good deal. Anyone use this powder and if yes, how is it?

I've been using 844 for some time now. It's indistinguishable from H335. I've found no difference whatsoever. It's a good deal.

Thanks for the heads up. I will be making an order soon and will get some more if there is still some left then.

I bought some a few weeks ago from High Tech ammo. I like Widener's too, but they were out of stock. High Tech covered the Hazmat w/ a 4 keg purchase vs 6 kegs from Widener's, so depending on how much you're buying, that's something to look at.

As to quality/consistency of what one sells vs the other I have no idea since I haven't used both types. I haven't even gotten into what High Tech sent me yet other than to open the case & put it away.
