am thinking of getting one of the new Weatherby Vanguard Carbines in .22-250 with a 20" barrel for a truck gun, anyone know anything about these, will the short 20" bbl. make a difference in long range accuracy??
A 20" bbl would probably work better with a .223. That is about right for that round. A 250 would loose velocity and be pretty hard on the ears. I think a 22" would be about minimum in my book for the 250. Weatherby/Howa 1500's are good rifles and a 20" carbine would be a great truck gun. Look at the .223.
+1 ON THE .223...i HAVE A SAVAGE WITH A 20" BULL BARREL THAT IS VERY ACCURATE OUT TO 500YDS, AND IT JUST TOOK A DEER THIS PAST WEEKEND. TERRIFIC RIFLE.
