am thinking of getting one of the new Weatherby Vanguard Carbines in .22-250 with a 20" barrel for a truck gun, anyone know anything about these, will the short 20" bbl. make a difference in long range accuracy??

A 20" bbl would probably work better with a .223. That is about right for that round. A 250 would loose velocity and be pretty hard on the ears. I think a 22" would be about minimum in my book for the 250. Weatherby/Howa 1500's are good rifles and a 20" carbine would be a great truck gun. Look at the .223.

Hope this helps,

Matt

I concur.

A 22-250 is much more susceptible to velocity loss per inch than the 223, because it is closer to being over-bore than the 223.
