Webley Mk VI 455 cylinder

Something to remember is the MarkV and Mark VI Webleys had working pressures of 13400 PSI CIP and the .45 Auto rim is
17,000 Saami psi while the .45 ACP is 19000 CIP-21000 Saami . What I am saying is never shoot anything but .455 pressure ammo in pre MarkV guns and in Mark V and VI good condition guns I have not found .45 Auto Rim to be much stronger than Fiocchi .455 .

.45 Auto Rim

Never realized how scarce a MKVI cylinder alone might be. I was curious about factory .455 ammo, and bought one of those spacer rings so I could try it out. The factory Fiocchi .455 ammo averaged a whole 554 FPS in my gun. Very mild stuff. I normally use lightly loaded .45 Auto Rim or .45 ACP. The cylinder throats of my MKVI are .450" diameter. And if Webley rifling is ~.004" as I've read, groove diameter of my gun is also ~.450". Perhaps why it seems to shoot the .451" plated bullets so well. Anyway, fun old pieces of shootable history.

I rather not shoot 45 acp out of the gun. Haven’t had luck finding a spacer and would rather put in the effort to find a way to get a new cylinder manufactured. I got some leads and sent some emails. In the meantime I occasionally look for unshaven cylinders but the only ones I ever found were pushing $1000 which isn’t worth it to me. Hell even a heavy pitted unshaven webley (even the cylinder ) sold on gun broker recently for $1300.

Starline makes .45 Autorim cases -- I've used them to load for an M1917 Colt revolver. You use your regular .45 ACP dies, but need a separate shell holder. Load down to around 600 fps with a 230 grain cast bullet and you'll be fine.
