I've been doing a little bit of searching for some websites that are focused towards allowing people to print out free range targets. So far, the websites I've come across are not that great, or they aren't free at all. Ones that are free only have a few targets, and not a very big variety.

I was thinking about just starting my own site, where people could search through different categories for rifle, pistol, or just plain fun targets that they can print out for free at their home. Have it complete with a nice rating system and sort the different sections out as most popular/downloaded. Maybe even allow users to upload their own targets to share with others. What are your opinions on this? Worth it or no?

If there is such a website already out there like this, please let me know. I may have just missed it when searching.

^^^ My only concern would be that a website target would leave you very limited. Most people only have standard printers to print out A4/8x10, etc. Places that charge to printout large prints would cost more than just buying targets.

Yea, that is a good point. I had thought about that. Not many people can print bigger than Letter sized paper. I guess it would mostly be limited to close-range shooting.

My only idea around this would to be able to split a bigger target up in quadrants so that you could print out each quadrant and tape the pieces of paper together, but that's probably too much of a hassle.

^^ I had a feeling someone would give me a LMGTFY link. I have obviously checked out those sites and in my opinion, they aren't that great. My idea would be something that a community of people could contribute their own targets to share with others, which would eventually lead to a much bigger/broader selection of targets and designs.

It wouldn't be a website for me to sell the targets. Just a place for people to have a big selection to choose from and for others who like to design their own to upload them for everyone to have for free.

There are lots of free targets you can print out. Just Google "free targets" and a good number of sites will show up and there's quite a selection I might add also.

I agree. I print all of my own practice targets and have never found the assortment lacking compared to anything you can buy. 8X11 targets are all I need for out to 200 yards, and if I need more than that, I just paste them to a larger backer board. For SD practice. I collect cardboard and use a plywood pattern and a utility knife to make silhouette targets.
