I went to the range today and brought amongst others my 1911 Colt combat elite. I fired 9 Pow'r Ball rounds (just some carry stuff to stay current) and then 50 FMJ after that I reloaded it and re-holstered it, as it was my carry piece.
I fired about 5 other guns for a while and then packed up and went home to start cleaning.
Well, I unloaded the mag in the colt and reinserted it and racked the slide to remove the chambered round and it came out with a burnt up piece of rubber.
Or what I thought was rubber. The only thing I can think of is that it is part of the polymer ball in the pow'r ball round.
Could it have been in the gun as I fired off 50 Magtech 230 grain FMC rounds?
How is that possible?
What else could it be?
I thoughly examined the gun and it is in working order and it never jammed or malfunctioned at all today.
I cleaned it even more throughly than usual and it is resting in my nightstand as I type.
I am just confused.
