I just received this:

NEWS RELEASE:
02/08/2012 LEANDER, TX.

Updated Policy for State and Local Agency Law Enforcement Sales:

Due to the recent and numerous new Anti-gun/Anti-2nd Amendment laws passed and/or pending across our country, LaRue Tactical has been forced to reconsider how we provide products to state and local agencies.

Effective today, in an effort to see that no legal mistakes are made by LaRue Tactical and/or its employees, we will apply all current State and Local Laws (as applied to civilians) to state and local law enforcement / government agencies. In other words, LaRue Tactical will limit all sales to what law-abiding citizens residing in their districts can purchase or possess.

State and local laws have always been a serious focus of this firm, and we are now dovetailing that focus with the constitutional rights of the residents covered in their different areas by the old and new regulations.

We realize this effort will have an impact on this firm's sales - and have decided the lost sales are less danger to this firm than potential lawsuits from erroneous shipments generated by something as simple as human error.

Thanks in advance for your understanding.

Mark LaRue

Way to go LaRue! I will let everyone at my local gunshop know and we'll try to get an order together in the near future.

Too bad he excluded military/federal agencies. In my opinion if you're in New York (just an example) then you should only allow anyone to buy what New Yorkers can buy. Obviously as stated in his letter this would hurt the business but we're all going to be out of business in the next 5-10 years if this anti American crusade is allowed to continue unchecked.

Anyway to verify that this is a genuine press release? After a cursory look, I was not able to find it on their website.

Colt, S&W, Ruger, Barrett and all others who rely on NA sales should follow suit. Good job to the folks at Larue, but they should include Military sales as well.

WOW!!! That is awesome. Yes, I will do business with them. That is the kind of support we need.
I agree, Ruger, Smith, etc. need to follow suit.

Gonna have to get something from Larue. We should support those who support us.

include Military sales as well
While I understand the sentiment, a company with the slogan "God bless our troops, especially our snipers" will probably shut their doors before they stop selling to the military.

Federal law enforcement is a different story, but I'm not sure about cutting off military sales, anyway. Until we have a militia in the sense our founding fathers intended, I don't want to start dismantling our national defense.

I just tried sending them an email to thank them, but they aren't accepting emails due to high volume.

If anyone from LaRue is reading, hats off, and you've just gone to the top of my list for when I finally buy an AR.

Majority of my rifle mounts are LaRues, I feel even more proud owning them now. All the LaRue naysayers (yeah they are out there) should rethink about this noble deed done by Mr. LaRue.

I can't afford their rifles. I'll wear one of their t shirts around.

Same here.

If I wouldn't look like a COD fan, I'd also wear my Barrett hat around, which I bought for the same reason.

Is there anything currently being firmly pressed in the national sense?

I understand that it would further hurt sales, but if LaRue were a big supplier, I would have have left it that they would consider ceasing sales and service to those agencies after current contracts were fulfilled.

I already have an accessory or two on certain rifles from LaRue, and I couldn't be more proud. I've gone with LMT in the recent past, and I hope they will follow suit. If not, my next build will be a LaRue!
