I've owned a shotgun for a number of years but rarely shot it due to a cross eye dominance issue. Last June, I tired of shooting pistol at paper targets and decided that I wanted begin the journey of becoming a proficient shotgunner. I practiced mounting left handed and started with trap and then some skeet. There have been many discouraging rounds, but there's a good bunch of guys at the range that keep it fun and keep me coming back. Ive been shooting 8 to 10 rounds of trap and a few rounds of skeet each week. Until today, the best I've done is 23 in trap and well, I don't keep score in skeet . Today the shotgun gods were shining on me. It was a beautiful day, light winds, and I felt good. My first round (warmup) was a 22. My second round I scored my first ever 25 and my third round was a 24. I did the happy dance and still have a big smile on my face hours later. It doesn't seem so daunting anymore and Im looking forward to shooting again tomorrow.
