Sorry I'm so hit and miss on the board right now: there's a lot going on including we are moving this month. Even though we are only moving a half a mile it is still expensive and time consuming.

Anyway, I got my permit. I sent it in almost three months ago, and then it came back because they needed proof that an old charge in Colorado was a misdemeanor. You have no idea how much trouble I had finding what amounts to a thirty year old ticket!

I got arrested back in 1978 for interfering with an officer. I was working as a bouncer in a topless club off base. They did a morals bust because some police commissioner was up for reelection or some such. All of the bouncers were arrested for interference, and all of the girls were arrested for lewd and lascivious. The bar ended up closed for a whole three days.

The boss got an attorney on the case and he assured everyone he would have the charges dropped. However, I was mission essential on base and not supposed to be working off base. My battalion commander told me that we were leaving for Reforger exercises in Germany in eleven days and I had better have it cleared up in ten days or I would be facing an article 15. Since the article 15 would have been field grade I went down and plead nolo contendre to the charge and paid the fifty dollar fine. In retrospect I would have been better off taking the reduction in rank, the loss of pay, and the extra duty/restriction. What a mess.

However it's straightened and I made my obligatory walk through Wally World with my good friends Misters Smith & Wesson.

Oh yeah, when I faxed in the letter from the Colorado Springs Municipal Court I almost added a cover sheet that said, "Yep, you caught the Tater!", but I figured I'd best not give them any more reason to mess with me.

Why does most everyone seem to enjoy strolling through wally world? Not condemming, i just dont get it? is it to see if the manager will follow company policy and leave you alone?
Of course here in Georgia, you can walk down main street with a 6" 1911 on your hip and its legal.

It's just a THR tradition. We all do it. Most Walmarts don't say anything. Even if they would say something, the whole point of concealed weapon is so that no one will know that you're carrying.

In some places people have been asked to leave Walmart, and even had the police called to escort them out.

Since no one knew I was carrying it was no great shakes, but it's still a THR tradition. Other than dong that, and getting some more bubble wrap to pack crystal with, I really didn't even need to go there. I don't like Walmart's policies concerning gun control and video taping gun purchases, or their predatory business practices, so I don't go there unless there is no alternative. I try to buy from local dealers if possible and will normally shop on line before I go to Walmart.

I actually did do the Wally World walk when I got my first handgun years ago because the gun clerk was to busy to sell me all the ammo I wanted... I bought a holster,he threw in a box of 50 and went back to his show he was watching. So I loaded a mag, and went to back to work. After work, I went and bought more ammo at Walmart for range practice. I thought everyone knew I was carrying that mighty Keltec P32...

A time honored tradition for at least some Highroaders..
