So I posted earlier this week looking for a place to shoot near Detroit lake in Oregon well I found it.

My Girlfriend and I went up the forest service RD 46 about 35miles past Detroit lake and found the Hot springs. We found tons of nice little spots to camp, most had fire pits and pre-cleared tent spots too. So we drove the truck up, parked and set up camp. We were lucky that right behind our spot was a perfect spot to shoot with good burm and a log that was begging to hang targets on. We found a fair amount of leftover brass from others so we were not the first to realize the utility of this space.

Firearms Brought,
1. My new M&P in .40s/w -shot 175 rounds through it with no real issues (see below)
2. Remington Targetmaster .22lr - I recently inherited it from my grandfather, I was a little learly in bringing it since it has not been fired in AT LEAST 18yrs (my grandpa got it from his brother when he moved to Italy and it spent that time wrapped in a blanket in a closet) It worked just fine and I fired about 200rounds from it.
3. My GF's 9x18Markov pistol (dont know specific make/ model) -we put about 100rounds from that down range no issues, but she does not like the grips at all because they hurt her hands.

We shot everything from a few targets that I brought to water bottles and a baked beans can after dinner. Much fun was had by all.

Things I learned.
1. My .40 WILL wake my GF up when she is trying to take a nap, however the .22lr will not
2. I should buy a staple gun because targets need something to hang on.
3. No matter how cool CCI Shot shells look I should have listened when my GF said "Those probably wont have enough push to cycle your slide" None of them cycled properly and one closely resembled a "phase 3" malfunction. So I still have about half of the 10rnd box.
4. .22 bolt actions may be tedious to load but never really get old, there is some sort of simple pleasure that the other guns did not provide.

We had tons of fun and may very well go back soon.
