I'm sure some will call me a fool. Others will say I'm a blasphemer. And the die-hard Glocksters will burn me in effigy, despite not knowing what I look like.
Simple fact is, I had finally ponied up enough dough to get one of these brand new super-duper HK45s. Niiiiice looking gun. Very nice. Got to hold the full-size and compact. Price? $959 for the full size, $967 for the compact. And that's before tax. Youch. While pondering whether I should spend AR price on a pistol, I happened to turn from the .45 pistols case to the .40 pistols case. And then to the 9mm pistols case. And then I saw it.....A Sig 226R with Crimson Trace Laser Grips. It had two high cap mags and was used...but not used much. Finish looked good. One minor scratch on the rear frame on the beavertail area. I thought, hmmmm, I'm not in the market for a 9mm, but I like the 226 series...gotta check it out. Now keep in mind, the pistols in this store are separated by caliber. So here I am in the 9mm case, checking this gun out. When it was handed to me, I popped the mag out to check the weapon and see if the mag was a hi-cap. It was...a 12 rounder. Eh? That ain't right....turned it over and sure enough...it was a .40/.357 mag. Then I looked at the barrel...sure enough, it says .40! And the price? $665, almost new in the box with Crimson Trace Laser Grips, NIGHT SIGHTS, and 2 12 round mags!
I don't have the HK. At least not yet. But I have one beautiful Sig.
Took it to the range. Fired 100 rounds of Sellier & Bellot ball ammo. Not my favorite, but the Magtech was sold out, as was the Remington. Also fired 50 rounds of some Remington ball that I already had. Then, I fired 50 rounds of Winchester Ranger 155 gr (NOT the Ranger Talon). Boy, you can tell when you're touching that stuff off. Lastly, I fired 24 rounds of the same brand in 180 gr. Not one hiccup, despite the fact that I hadn't lubed or cleaned the weapon prior to firing it (it wasn't very dirty at all, but I did conduct function checks prior to firing).
I still think the new HK is absolutely beautiful. I still love .45. But I don't know if I'll ever buy that HK now. That Sig is a work of art....
