Left work early to get prepped for a crown (Oh boy), but to save the day I went to the range after that.

Shot a couple of old .38 Specials at some plates. (Swingers in the middle and falling plates on the right) The Colt is from 1950, not sure about the Smith. The Colt is a beautiful blue and the Smith is a very pleasing patina. Pic doesn't do them justice.

Yeah, shooting the auto-loaders is nice, but there always seems to be something a little extra special
about shooting the wheel guns. JMHO.

Shooting the autoloaders is nice?

Crawling around underfoot picking up your brass is nice? Getting slapped on top of your head by flying brass is nice? The extractor pulling the head off a case is nice?

Sorry, I'll stick with my Single Actions.

Although I have to admit that after shooting I picked up nearly 200 .223, some LPP .45 ACP, some 9MM, and few .380.

Those are some gorgeous sixgunns Walkalong. Looks like fun.

I'm on the road and was supposed to go shooting. Never happened due to rain.

Folks at the hotel I'm staying in were eyeing me rather heavily as I wheeled $6000 worth of rifles and handguns past them while they were checking in, and heard 1000 rounds of ammo rattling in their boxes.

"Traveling light" is a phrase I don't understand.

I've been meaning to get my Regulation Police out. Going to have to do that when I'm home.

If you post the serial number of the Smith, one of us can probably get you close with the S&W book to the date.

Well, as I live and breathe, sir, please accept my apologies, it was not my intent to offend you, as I stated that it was more fun shooting a revolver.

If the stocks are the originals, numbered to the gun, that M&P was made sometime in the range of 1920 - 1929. That is the era of the round top non-medallion stocks. Nice looking gun.

I love my revolvers and my autoloaders. I enjoy shooting both. Sometimes I like to just take my “cop guns”. I have 3 S&W’s I call my cop guns. A model 10, a 19 and a 36. Sometimes I just take those out to play and leave the others behind. It’s a nice way to spend time at the range.

Another pair of guns I love to shoot together is my Glock 19X with my S&W 327 NG. Kind of a weird pairing but I love shooting them together.

You have a nice pair of revolvers, Walkalong. Love that old Smith.

Well, I have to admit, I like shooting the autoloaders as well.

But not today. :)

I enjoy shooting auto loaders as well as my revolvers. Variety is the spice of life they claim. As for crawling on the ground picking up brass, I use a large painter's cloth next to me. It catches a good 95% of my auto loader brass.....and that brass flung out of my old school lever carbines as well. End of the day you fold the painter's cloth up and all the brass rolls to the center, from where you can easily pour the contents into an ammo can/bucket. Must have extractors/powder charge figured out cause I very seldom get any brass in the head and have yet to have a head pulled off from extraction....other than a rare case head separation in my .460 revolver.

Use to do the same thing with one of those blue nylon 12' by 12' tarps. Caught everything, even brass from my friend's AK, and it was so easy getting all the brass in the center and dumping all the brass in a large bucket.

Exactly, so the claim one has to "crawl around on the ground" to retrieve one's brass as a reason not to shoot a platform, is not really legit, since the fix is so easy and simple. We all have our preferences. Sometimes we have a good reason we prefer a particular firearm platform, and sometimes we grasp at straws to justify them to others.
