The "Bells Palsy" is still with me, so I still can't see to shoot very well, but
the wife did OK. This is the first time since last Oct. she has shot. She said
it's time to start the year. She posted a 25 yd pistol at 25yds and shot
20 times with her little 32. With a 4 month layoff she is a little rusty. But
this is a real target in the real world at a real 25 yds. She will get better.

For those of you who will be asking what kind of pistol did she shoot, here it is

That's not bad shooting. If it was all in the white then I'd be worred. That pistol almost looks like a ruger frame. Kwhi I've had that "Bells Palsy" for over a year. I fell for you man. It's not suppose to last long but they told me that I didn't get enough of the meds in time to help me get rid of it. If they put you on anything take it even if you haft to barrow the money to get it. Some days it's not to bad and others it's kind of hard to get along with. Just take the meds.

I'm very curious about the pistol. It's obviously a ruger lower frame...Maybe a Mark II? Tell us more about the upper receiver/barrel. Is that something you bought, made?....What does it shoot?

Dang that's some nice shooting! I'm getting better with a rifle now that I'm practicing more! I bought an air rifle, set up a 2 foot berm in my yard, and got a few 1250 packs of of those "milk carton pellets" from crossman. I can now shoot a ketchup packet from 100 feet away. I also set up two of those .22 rimfire triple spinner targets I love so much! It seems like the longer I take to aim for some reason the more I miss. I don't know if that's such a bad thing, I mean I could become a very good point shooter. Heck, I do dig through the berm once and a while, so I get to re-use the airgun lead and make bullets with it! It's nice and soft and works great for Minnie balls!

I hope that Bells Palsy gets better for you Phil. I'll keep you in my thoughts and prayers. I was recently diagnosed with something called "mesophonia" and it's been driving me absolutely nuts. I can't even eat with my family most the time it's that bad. Driving is even worse, I can't drive while my family has their oral fixations like gum and sunflower seeds and such. I will continue looking for something to help with that.

It's down right impressive!

That's basic physiology, when you take your aim the muscles will take a short while, about 2s, to become still. After another second or so oxygen levels decrease in the muscle tissue and the muscle cells start moving again.
That small window is where you should let off your shot. If you miss it, it's better to take your gun down, take a deep breath, and try again.
I will continue looking for something to help with that.

This is what I use on long drives, the bickering from the kids in the back seat drives me into a regular road rage:cuss:

The lower part of the pistol is not a Ruger frame. It is machined from a solid
block of aluminum. It is patterend after the Ruger Mark I. It will accept any
grips that are made for the Ruger. Wife has several different grips for it. Trigger sear and over travel are fully adjustable from the outside of the frame
I have one and it has the old Ruger "Micro" rear sight on it. The upper barrel
part is made by Ed Rayle. This is a custom match grade barrel. Caliber is
.32 We use Hornady "0" Buckshot and a .010 thick patch. Load is 14 grs of
Swiss No. 2 Black Powder. Witch is FFF. These pistols are made in SC by a
fellow John Mouzon. He will make any barrel length. These have the very best
trigger of any pistol I have ever had in my hand in the past 50 years. It's
what I would call a "Touch & Go" The cost of this you ask?? Well believe it
or not I think John's last price was around 425.00 And that includes a loading
rod and a loading stand also. Pretty cheap if you ask me. If you want John's
number PM me.

I will be sure to keep that in mind, my aim will hopefully get even better once I figure out how to utilize that window to my advantage! It's not like I'm doing 1000 yard shots here, I'm just shooting bottle caps, shotgun hulls, and spinners from 75 feet.

I do keep a pair of earplugs under my hat, I usually end up using them on the buss ride over to the college. The only problem is I sometimes forget to bring them, then I get wound up for about 24 hours with high levels of anxiety. I kinda want to get my blood pressure taken both when I'm wound up and when I'm fine. It would be interesting to see some numbers. I swear sometimes it feels like the vein on my temple is visibly throbbing. The other day on the buss my friend Haley actually noticed my anxiety, she knows of my condition. She let me borrow her headphones, now there's a true friend.

Something that custom for that sort of price is a DARN good deal.

You're giving me all manner of ideas for projects for after my new home shop renos are done.... :D

Curious about the barrel and "receiver". The whole upper appears to be fabricated from a section of octagonal barrel with the rear bored out to allow installation of a breech block/cap nipple plug and the spring loaded striker. Is this correct?

Also what sort of twist rate does the barrel use for the small ball size?

Yes, that is correct. The barrel is a "Rayle" You can buy them from several
sources, "Log Cabin" one, and from Tip Curtis. Twist is 1-16. Green Mt. is
another source of a barrel. Just as good and the same 1-16 twist. The barrel
is held on with the front pin, and a screw under the part that rest on the
web of your hand. Very easy. Here is what the nipple area looks like. I just
happend to have a picture.

THANKS!

I've still got to finish the house renos to build my retirement dream workshop areas. Along the way I've unearthed a few "skeltons in the closets" with this new place which are delaying things. But at least when I'm done I'm hoping I can just do basic maintanence and enjoy making things.

I can see a BP muzzle stuffer target gun of this sort being a highly doable and very fun home shop project. It likely won't be THIS year, but hopefully soon.

If your like me Levi, then you'll wear the same favourite hat all the time.
Get a pair of those earplugs on a string and tie them to the hat and stuff the plugs inside the sweat band.
I've done this with a hunting hat, that way I always have a pair of plugs with me and if time permits I can stuff at least the far ear before pulling the trigger.
My hearing has developed that typical "hunters dip" of the left ear and I'd like to keep what's left.

Those pistols make my mouth water!
I wish I could build one like that, but I have to use antique parts :(
