Went to a Gun Show Yesterday

I haven’t had a good case of ptomaine poisoning in years.

I caught something last night... it frikkin put me down for 18 hours. All I had was a salad...

Laughlin is pretty neat. Waaaay more laid back than that Vegas place. Have fun.

Funny story... back when I was driving OTR, I would go through Laughlin whenever I could... and thought it would be a cool place to retire to in the by-and-by. Fast forward 10 years, and I met my wife, and her parents were planning on retiring to Laughlin, which they did in 2006 or so... so we get to go out whenever we want, have a place to stay, and in 5 minutes from the house I can be shooting or riding the XR. It really is a fun place... and that is nothing to say about the casinos. We even got married out there, in 2002.

That's the Premiere show over at Extraco Center, yes?
Used to be decent shows up in Waco (at least the ones not run by Saxtet or Lone Star).
All of the Premier shows ARE POSTED IN ACCORDANCE WITH TEXAS 30.06 AND 30.07 STATUTES. In other words, your legal right to “carry” stops at the door. If you ignore the signage, you can face a class B misdemeanor charge .
Furthermore, Premier conducts random gun searches of not only the show’s attendees but also of the vendors…that’s spelled out in the show’s rules.
But probably the most egregious rule is…”Jerky must be in 1⁄4 pound or $5 minimum sales and no single stick sales.”

Our big show around here is run by "Showmasters". 1300 tables of much the same vendors each time and the prices are what they are--higher on Friday than Sunday. But high regardless. (Next one is February 2nd.)

But I've never cared about prices, per se. For me it's availability and, for example, being able to see and handle a firearm before I buy. That may seem like a given to some you but not in a firearm desert like northern VA.

I know of no dealers in this area (and there aren't that many in the first place) carrying top brands of pistols for example. So how can I handle one to see if I'm willing to spend that kind of money? But at the show, more than one vendor may have Wilson, Nighthawk, Les Baer, Ed Brown, Cabot all lying there to feast on. Another will have 100+ Berettas, SIGs, and CZs.

I don't know anything about rifles but I do know how to count--lots of 'em. And $20,000 engraved shotguns? How many would you like?

Pre-pandemic we even had four separate reloaders selling tons of stuff.

As for small shows, I don't know of any since pandemic. Not within 100 miles anyway.

All of the Premier shows
Not just Premiere, but all the shows in Texas have such postings. Typically the venues require it (or already have the signage).
It's a PITA, especially if a person is in a foreign city or location.

In the olden days, before LTC, the venues would ammo free to try and prevent ND inside. And yet, ND still occur. There's no such thing as a foolproof system.
