Went to a gun show...

I used to go to the gun show back home for one vendor. He could always beat the online guy's price on reloading supplies, especially powder and primers. He would see my buddy and I coming and break out the calculator because he knew we were going to be making a decent purchase of supplies.

I also remember laughing at the prices on some of the guns, one vendor was selling brand new glocks for $650-700. The going rate for them at every other gun shop around was $495-525. Then there was the "tie-died ninja" selling the pakistani knives and swords. He claimed to be a former SEAL, but when asked what team he was with there was no response as "he would have to kill me after he told me." Please keep in mind this guy was 5'10" and close to 400 lbs (over 40% body fat if I had to guess); I was not at all threatened by him. Then there were the people selling the junk books (anarchist cookbook, "survival guides", "militia guides", etc. They would pester everyone who walked by to look out for the New World Order. And before I forget the jerky table and the kettle corn table, those were the last stop before I went home with the purchase of the weekend.

Gun shows are more of an entertainment venue than a place to purchase guns/ammo/hunting supplies anymore. I got tired of spending $8-10 admission, plus parking cost to see the same junk show after show.

The one at Rustic Hills actually had a fair selection of used miltary knives and bayonets, I'd say they were good quality but I didn't look at prices because I wasn't buyiing.

Our shows here are club shows. Wear your club badge, walk in, no charge. Security guards at doors and all weapons must have empty chambers, open and tied back/open. Club members can enter 1 Hr before open to public. Public pays. GUN Sales to members only and membership requires a background check. But same deal, gun prices depend on the dealers. Some dealers (and you know who you are) have really good prices. I have bought from these guys, but not at the show. Other dealers are just dreamers, bringing the same guns to the show every month and not selling them. And they are not necessarily bad guns, but some are getting road rash. One is a Ruger 10mm/38-40 Convertible I've been eyeballing that thing, but his price is at least $150 too high. Some cool old ones pop up and sometimes I kick myself for not buying. 1st Gen Ruger .44Mag carbine. I think the guy was asking $600 or something. I should have just bought then and there.

Just had one here. Anybody want a canik stingray for $499?
Huge markups over msrp.
Vendors telling people they better pay cause "i594 is going to shut down gunshows in Wa."

Total waste of time and $6.
Well, I did get to see a Barrett m82. That was neat.
