Promoter is Premier, who generally does decent vendors and venues.

NyTex Arean in North Richland Hills definitely counts as a unique venue.
It normally is iced up for ice skating and both Club & Regional Hockey. Parking lot is right at "adequate" for Brahmas Hockey games, definitely too small for a gun show.

Was unique being on the floor looking up to where I normally get seat for hockey.

Not a lot of "junky" vendors, really. (Only one jerky vendor.) Many I recognized from the FW Show.

Did not seem to be a lot of firearms buying, but, I was there well after lunch, too. Seemed to be a lot of folk getting accessories. I found a guy with all manner of obscure magazines , and not selling them like they were gold or silver. So, I managed to get a couple of Colt 1903 magazines for about $25 less than any other source I've seen of late. Guy also had Mossberg 41 43, 44 magazines--I have enough 44 mags, though.

A decent trip.

I like Premier. But they stopped doing any shows within a distance I'm willing to drive.

Glad you had a nice time and managed a few things you wanted. We have two very good large shows in my area. The Cuyahoga County Fairgrounds (Ohio) is typically a 1,000 table show. My wife and I worked it 25+ years ago. The show consist of 3 large fairground buildings the trinkets and other stuff similar are in the back of one building and limited in their number of tables. It's about the promoters making for a good show. I have known the family for a long time and while mom and dad are retired in Florida the kids have the business now. When they see me they just stamp my hand. :) Parking is free and admission typically $7.00. The other large show is the Medina Fairgrounds and about a 45 min ride. Several buildings and also well run. Haven't been there for awhile but it was Conrad & Dowdell Productions run.

Anyway, glad you had a good show.

Finding venues is complicated.
And, I know the feeling, as I feel that way about the Frisco show. (Other than it gives me an excuse to stop by Bavarian Grill.)
It was interesting when they were using Dallas Market Hall, as that's almost the same distance from my house as Will Rogers. I still like Will Rogers; possibly for having more places to go eat afterwards.

I still like the Ft. Worth Gun Show better. But I did find some Hornady 120 gr SST's for the fall deer hunt.

I do too.
And, since I've gon the 20 miles already, going to Edleweiss or Mercado Juarez for chow after just seems apt.

Also, Defender Outdoors is only a few minutes away on University, in case a person wanted to try out a new acquisition. (Or just wanted some range time.)
Both excellent choices! Mercado Juarez is one of our favorites for Mexican food.

It's a great deal. I kind of have a soft spot for the original location on Northside, and going there means not having to head back to the house on 30 and get caught up in ballpark or jerryworld traffic is also a bonus.

I've been known to hit up Velvet Taco or Magnolia, too.

Back on topic, there's a "western show" that's over at the Gaylord Texan which can be a fascinating show--definitely not lacking for lever actions, typically. And, that's a good reason to wander over to Dino's or Tolbert's.

The Mesquite show is a long drive for me, and it's not near that many good eateries. Mesquite BBQ is not bad, and right there. Pecan Lodge is on the way back (sorta); but the parking is always terrible.

Hey Capn, glad to see thing are booming in Texas, Do you ever see any out of state FFLs there? We are in Oklahoma and have wondered if we would be legally able to sell guns in Texas as long as we had a Texas FFL do a background check and transfer at the show? Kind of like if we were an individual and had to have a "universal background check" by the state police in some states? I know this probably belongs in the Legal section but I figured with as much shows you go (at least it seems like you post a lot about all kinds of shows) to you might have picked up a thing or two... Thanks!
