Since I gave my son my model 605 Taurus as part of his Christmas present, It left me without a 357 snub. I was trying to decide between the stainless Taurus 605 and the S&W 60. I ended up getting the 60 and must say I'm very happy with it so far. As many of you know recoil is brutal with hot loaded 357's, but the accuracy was pretty good from 8yds. I've only ran about 75 rnds thru it so far, so when I'm finished making sure of the reliability, it will be carried. Here is a pic for those interested................

Rblack-

Good choice!

My wife has a M60LS and loves it. (She thinks its "cute").

She only shoots .38+P thru it.

Rblack, good choice there. I love my Model 60. However, I'm still lookng for the grip I like. I've convinced myself I don't like the stock one.

I am a S&W K-frame fan, and I am a Taurus fan as well. I generally like Taurus small frame revolvers a lot, maybe more than S&W. However, that said if I'd ever get another .357mag snub it would probably be the M60 (though I might get a Ruger SP101 as well).

I've noticed that S&W J-frames are generally a bit lighter than the Taurus equivelent. The aluminium .38s are 15oz instead of 17, the .38 steel guns are 20oz or something like that instead of 21, and the .357mag steel guns are 22.5oz instead of 24. At 21oz for a .38spl Taurus or 24oz for a .357mag Taurus that I'll almost always shoot .38spl and .38+P out of I'd rather save the 3oz. At 21 oz for the .38 Taurus or 22.5oz for the S&W that is capable of occasional .357mag and that will never wear out with tons of +Ps I'd live with the extra 1.5oz. With the 605 I had I didn't see the point of keeping it around, it was a tad too heavy for the snub's mission. With a M60 I don't think I'd have that problem.

I love my Taurus 85 and I'll certainly be keeping it. Still, I just might like to pick up a S&W 60LS and a 3" M60 if I can find them. I'd still prefer the .38spl only version, but I'd be more than happy with the .357mag versions if that is all I could find.

I got a 3' Model 60-10 about a year ago and love it. I went thru more sets of grips than I care to recall but finally found the ones I like. Eagle Secret Service grips in rosewood. Beautiful but sting a bit with the hot .357 loads. Carry really well so I will live with a little sting.

Man, do I rue the day I traded my 60 in towards a Ruger P97 (and I actually like the P97, I just miss my snubbie more).

Only thing I didn't like was the stock grips, I got some Pachmayrs straight away.

Best memory of the Model 60 was seeing the Sainted GF taking 5 steps back when I started popping off full house .357s through that little guy!:D

Thanks for all the replies, and suggestions. The DA trigger seems to have smoothed up with some dry firing and more shooting. The SA trigger is just amazing it is so light. I've been thinking about some nice wood grips for it and even thinking about getting a 4" 686. I had one of these a couple of years back and got the trading bug and,,,,,,,,,,,, well you know.

Now I need to start looking for some leather for it. Anyone like to give their suggestions as to how they carry their snubbie.:D
