West German p226

IMO it's an ok deal but not great. You could buy a brand new P226 with night sights for not a whole lot more and you have the added benefit of getting it repaired for free if something was wrong with it because you bought it new.

Also it's worth pointing out that it's highly unlikely to be an original West German Sig P226. If the seller claims it was made in 1993 then it's impossible that it's West German because West Germany didn't exist after 1990.

I paid just over $600 for this W. German P226 that I picked up not too long ago and it's a rare Tyson's Corner import built it in 1984 so it's value is little higher. Came in the original box with paperwork but unfortunately it was missing the original grips and came with some ugly Hogue ones. However for a factory built handgun it shoots as good as some of my custom built handguns.

I have since replaced the grips.....

I'd pass on it, better deals out there. Here's one I found after a quick search on the sig forum. I picked up a nice p226 in 357 sig with. Ite sites and 350 rounds of ammo for $600 shipped. I've found some really good deals on barely used guns on the different forums that I frequent classified sections.

They re a great gun (I own two), just wait for the right deal

I agree with the other Gentlemen. Price is too high. Info is sketchy. I dont know much about the CPO's, but I have a feeling that this pistol is one , but with a higher price. I cant really tell whether or not this one is a folded or milled slide. I have also seen others market a Sig as "German" simply because it says the frame is made in Germany.

The last true West German Sig P226 I saw in a shop was $548 and it came with a nice holster and two mags. It needed some TLC, but nothing that a tooth brush and some CLP couldnt take care of.

I'd pass on it.

It is way high IMHO

I bought a Sig P226 9mm Swiss Police Trade in Gun for $450

It had a lot of holster wear - I sent it to CCR for a $79 slide job.

I love the gun / history / looks.

It is a dead on shooter.

The slide profile and roll pins do make it correct for a German made 226...it is still too expensive.

The last one I helped a friend pick out was a LE trade-in for $450

That gun is IMHO, based on what I have seen other Sig P226s sell for, priced way too high, not withstanding the fact it is in good condition.

Like most others stated, the price is too high even in excellent condition. Also, not sure why the new slide finish if so under shot? Seems the price is reflective of slide finish and updated sights?

In any case like sapper mentioned I agree that typically you should see a true W. German P226 in good condition in the $5xx range. Look (be patient) for a better deal and I'm sure you'll find one.

I snagged this from a friend some years back, ($500 with 3 mags and a holster) and again like sapper mentioned, it needed some tlc in the internals as I think honestly it was never taken down and cleaned. It worked perfectly, (tack driver and smooth as glass action) but it was just pretty grimey for me..

Pics below of my WG P226 before and during cleaning. (currently it's clean and wearing Hogue panels.. not pictured)

Now that's what I call a good deal.

I bought a used early WG 226 9mm in the box with factory test target and all the original paperwork for $450 at a gun show in Houston. The pistol is in excellent condition and saw very little use.

I also bought a brand new Sig 226 in 9mm with the night sights.

The early model WG 226 is my favorite and most accurate.

As earlier stated, the WG 226's commonly run around $500 used and I believe are an excellent value.

My friend bought a W. German 226 police trade-in with 3 mags and about 75% finish for a bit under $500 with 3 mags. He loves it. Very good shooter.
