I just put a West German Sig 226 on lay away today. The price was $550. Looks like the gun had been refinished (and probably resprung) at the Sig factory. The slide was refinished in nickel (very nicely done) and the barrel and frame had no wear whatsoever, and looked to be factory refinished. Very tight slide to frame fit, and a great trigger. Overall I'm happy with this gun. To the best of my knowlege this was not a former CPO Sig. Let me know how I did on this purchase.

How many mags did you get with the SIG P226? If three (or more~?), its a
good deal; not really a smoking deal, but still not bad. $550 for a P226 that
you are happy with is a far cry from the $939 that a NIB SIGARMS P226 9m/m
"Blackwater edition" cost. Of course, they come standard with 5 factory mag's
valued at $38 each. I have sold three of 'em NIB, within the last rwo weeks.

I discovered about a week ago that the sights glow in the dark. It has old night sights installed that still function. I guess it wasn't such a bad deal after all!:D

Unfortunately, I don't. My wife seems to have lost it. She hasn't managed to lose any shoes recently, but I forgive her. It will turn up soon. I called Sig and found out that this was in fact a CPO. It is a West German JK. 1989? and was refinished and resprung at the Sig factory.
